Hi everyone. Have just joined AFF site. Pse excuse not using all of the abbreviations. Have not learned them yet. Quick experience. Have got about 800,000 unused points. Tried to get points itinerary on QF site. Sydney to Barcelona - it routed me via LA and NYC - Is this a joke? ... massive distance travelled to get there - not to mention Greenhouse gasses. Nice to Shanghai - The site routed thru Gatwick and London Airport, with just four hours between ETA Gatwick to ETD Heathrow. QF and BA advise they will not transfer the bagage between the airports. Perhaps someone in QF should try to land, get bags out of Gatwick, transfer to Heathrow, and check in there and be airborne in 240 minutes. Complained on QF site - no response for a week. Complained again, and received voice message on my mobile that my complaint had been lost - so ring QF FF phone number. Any wonder that QF points are the laughing stock of the industry? Members ... AFF is a great site and I will enjoy your company.

Welcome to AFF Hazza12345!

I haven't used the Qantas award booking engine for a while but sometimes you need to look for awards via an intermediate point as there could be limited availability on the direct route. e.g BOS-ATH may not be showing availability where as BOS-LHR and LHR-ATH maybe showing availability.

I am getting closer to 1,000,000 QFF points and my only concern right now is that QF remains in Oneworld.

I wouldn't necessarily call the points the laughing stock of the industry - as this site shows there are some very handy ways to use them.
Currently until final approval is granted, there are a few annoying routes being thrown up with the awards bookings. I'd imagine come April, the EK partnership will open both those routes up nicely for you. Also try and use the multicity tool if you are not liking the options available as you can try and dictate the way you'd like to go

JohnK I really don't think there is anything to worry about here. Qantas have continually said they will not be leaving OW. It would hurt them greatly if they did.

Hi Hazza12345,

Welcome to AFF. :D

A lot here will not agree with you that Qantas FF is the laughing stock of the industry. Is that a personal opinion or fact based.

This year alone I have burnt approx 512,000 Qantas points with a return of approx 90,000 points and 1240 SCs. Personally I think that is a pretty good return.

As mannej pointed out have a look once the Emirates partnership is up and running and have a look at Any seat Awards. As a side note many here would be chuffed at the possibility of travelling via other locations to get to their destinations.

Regarding complaints there are several options which include contacting Red Roo via this site (you can send PMs via a moderator) or posting on the Qantas Facebook page.

Also have a look at: Selected AFF Threads for new members This includes a list of abbreviations.

You know how things can change so quickly. Today it is a benefit, tomorrow it is gone.

But I do feel a lot more comfortable since lunch with Qantas Loyalty at Rockpool through the week.

We're you looking at classic awards or any seat awards?
Searching on Classic awards can give some strange and inflexible options .
Any seat awards are just that, ie can be booked like a normal ticket, but usually dearer, depending on when you are wanting to fly but also earn points and status credits.

That's what they have said.

I did not however some pointed questions on a survey I did this week asking several times in several ways about how much I valued being able to earn on BA & CX.

That could be to do with the status bonus on those airlines - ie. CX never paid it and BA are about to stop paying it, so do you think it will effect your airline selections???
