Hi everyone, I am extremely new to everything about points and frequentflyer. I've been collecting points but always exchange it to something really not worth it, like when QFF was still doing Woolies gift cards, or exchanging flybuys points for movie tickets etc. This is my first month in being serious about collecting points and using them so I look forward to have my eyes open from the world of knowledge here!! Just signed up for Amex Plat Edge & been keeping my flybuys without spending it. Unfortunately I've already booked all my flights for the end of year trip before I even knew about points and stuff, so I'll have to use it in the future, but I'm looking forward to it!!
Just saying hello for now!!

My advice to anyone who collects points - aim high! Learn from here how to do just one "once in a lifetime" trip. I have done a gazillion miles but have yet to do true First long-haul travel. there is enough info here to enable you (and me) to experience that.

Aim high!!

Super high! :)

Thank you!! I guess I can aim high but with no particular plan in mind it's a little bit hard :P Well earning points will still be better off than earning nothing, that's what I've told myself, so I'll keep going, till we can afford a first class trip somewhere classy :))

Hi, I too are new.. it is a tad overwhelming in here to be honest.. but nice to know some new newbies. lol.

I wanted to have 1,000,000+ QFF points. No real plan in mind and no signon bonuses. Maintain discipline and earn the points where it makes sense. Before you know it you have 1,000,000+ QFF points. Now how to use them?

i too am a total newbie - have both Velocity and Qantas points and now I am retired, would love to do a bit of travelling, however the whole points saga is new to me and has been a bit negative so far. Lost over 400k Amex points when I overlooked paying one of my husband's cards when he was sick and in hospital for an extended period (for the princely sum of $29.98 and 2 weeks overdue! I paid the bigger amount in full!) and just over 300k points when we changed our CAB card into my name when he stopped working, not realising this would cancel the accumulated points. i've now built up nearly 200k Velocity and 150k Qantaas, 50k Commonwealth Award points and about the same Flybuys. is this enough to do anything worthwhile? Is is better to use them for upgrades? Is is better to convert the CAB points to either Vel or QF? s How do you use Flybuys for trave?Sorry for all the questions but you all seems so knowledgeable and I know zipall!thank you for any advice
