I was wondering if anybody had heard if there were going to be any more International carrier, other than EK flying into Newcastle UK and Glasgow Scotland. EK has increased it's flights into Glasgow to 2/day, both flights are full. Nobody wants to fly thru Heathrow, its a bloody waste of time and a total madhouse. I know that EK and EH fly to Manchester, but this is not Scotland. Could the Scottish Independence issue be London's decisions on other International Carriers flying into Scotland, or is it just Economics. If it is Economics why then are they filling 2 planes a day, I think it may be Politics.
But does anybody know of any other carriers wanting to fly into Glasgow Scotland.

We don't think it's politics, but it would be good to see more direct flights into Scotland, preferably EDI. We'd love to bypass LHR.

Edi strip is to short for international size planes. Only Glasgow is long enough.

I count 8 International airlines that service Glasgow

Aer Arann - Dublin, Cork
EasyJet - Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin
Air Nostrum - Madrid
Icelandair - Reykjavik
KLM - Amsterdam
United - Newark
BMI - Copenhagen
Emirates - Dubai

So, I'm guessing you want another Middle Eastern or Asian airline - is that correct?

You can arrive direct to EDI if you're flying in from the West, eg UA36. Hopefully now EDI is independently owned they'll go after more long haul routes.

I was speaking to an employee last year at EDI who claimed it was more the weight capacity of the apron than the runway length that limited large aircraft operations there. Not sure if there's anything in that but would seem even harder to change than the runway length!

Side question, we're there visiting family in September and have a 3 or 4 day side trip from EDI penciled in. We want to be able to go direct from EDI but haven't decided where to go. Possibilities are Paris, Prague, Milan, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin amongst others. Been to Paris and Barca before. Teenage kids in tow, any recommendations? Daughter wants to go to Venice but a little harder to get to.

Cheers,
Steve
