Newcastle to Perth direct route

Sounds like Newcastle airport is prepared to throw some $$$ around to attract an airline.
 
I got the same email.

Anything that NAPL sponsors, fails.

If an airline was sending this I'd be hopeful, but it's just an airport looking for more landing fees.

The route map at NTL is slowly becoming realised...

Take away the Bonza routes... It's not much different to 2014 with the exception of 5x weekly ADL and a seasonal CNS 3x weekly service.
 
I'm just holding out hope for the completely believable QR 777 tag service for DOH-SYD-NTL :p

They’re only allowed 7 weekly flights of those “QR specials” which are all in use for MEL-ADL.
 
Am deep in planning for next year's trip to Scotland and the north of England and that's where my head is at. I read the thread title and thought, "Gee, that's quite bespoke. Unlikely to be much demand". I then realised my mistake and consequently thought to myself, "Gee, that's quite bespoke. Unlikely to be much demand."
 
Interesting. I'm not on their mailing list, but would fill out the survey! Though the travel to ntl has plummeted lately.
 
E190 seems a bit tight to make the trek.

I recall Virgin had a deal previously for the short lived NZ flight it had, perhaps they might kick start only if money is put on the table.

This is NAPL SOP, hence my comment above about anything they sponsor failing.

Even their ADL route failed, it was only when QF started it that it became a success - and I think largely because they can offer connections to PER. For this reason I doubt the PER route working as it would likely cannibalise the ADL route.
 
Jetstar perhaps might have launched a red eye flight, but I just recalled they closed the NTL base.

And it's a much, much better connection than xBNE, which was the main one with frequencies. Preferable to MEL on duration, depending on timings, though MEL lounge offering currently nicer especially around mealtimes.

QF would certainly have the numbers and you think would have launched it if an appropriate aircraft and support operations existed. So we could hypothesise that means it's not big enough for its own 737s, and either out of range or not enough to be sustainable for the PER based operators (network aviation's 717s, F100s or A319/20s). Or, they're currently maxed out on better alternatives (within the state).
 
I wouldn't mind a PER - NTL route to have more access and competition to the Eastern States. Seems like the non-capital city routes are seasonal or temporary so not sure about the longevity of a hypothetical route
