Just checked in at TSV and was asked to remove my NGCI tags, apparently QF have been acquiring a few bags and redirecting them despite the DJ tags!

That's a scream! I'm guessing they'd end up at the last place they were sent to?

Hmm, i don't know much about the NGCI process but presumedly they use RFID. So there's a risk that even if you had them *in* (as opposed to on) your bag there's a risk that the QF gear would scan them?

Interesting way to p' passengers off when they fly a rival airline -- make off with their bags then get them p'ed off with the carrier that flew them! If i thought anyone at QF was capable of organising something complex as a conspiracy at the moment i'd be very suspicious. :)

If I recall correctly there was a discussion about this on the QF thread about removing NGCI tags when departing from locations that did not use NGCI. This was caused as the tag info was not updated and bags sometimes ended up at the last place registered on the tags.

Dont see that very often . Very strange. Enjoy your flight Markis! Have you got a BSI?

Nope, got the opposite, an e170, which is OK for the 40 min trip north.
Oh, enjoy those cute E170's while you can, enjoy the flight the 3 left will be leaving very soon! So cute they are

This would have to only be a rare occurrence?

BTW enjoy your flight, I prefer E Jets over any 737.

I don't mind the EJet but they are mad in heavy turbulence. My two worst flight experiences of late were bouncing around in EJets in ugly weather.

That's why I love them! Or even better a metroliner!

Yeah, they are quite agile aircraft. Designed to turn quickly. Very bouncy in bad weather!

I check in a bag at OOL once a month and leave by Q Tag on. Same at SYD. However, there are no Q Tag Readers in SYD T2 or OOL so I have nothing to worry about.

I checked a bag in at both MEL and SYD last week with a NGCI tag and was not asked to remove it. On the way home it did miss the flight back to MEL, but I did check in only 5min before it closed and a couple of other bags didn't make it either, so don't think it was the drink coaster's fault...

I would suspect that there'd be no issue at MEL as there'd be no NGCI tag equipment on the baggage conveyors in the common use Terminal 3 - only in Terminal 1 (QF/JQ).

In SYD this would only become an issue when common use Terminal 2 QFLink is enabled for NGCI - given that the flights out of SYD T2 are all going to locations that would be some of the last to see NGCI I would be surprised to see this at the top of QFs agenda.

TSV is common use between QF and DJ and is enabled for NGCI - thus the problem!

I wonder when DJ are going to update their baggage tag printers to print Virgin Australia rather than Virgin Blue on the bag tags?
