I'm interested in the number of people who pay $0 annual fee for their cards. I have a platinum (and have been offered signature for same fee). My fee is $149 (plus QFF $49) per year. Would anyone mind divulging why/how they have come to pay $0  annual fee per year (for life).

6 posts in 6 years, impressive. 1 per year. Is it linked to something? Annual Card fee maybe? :D

In 2006, Citibank offered the Gold card with "no annual fee EVER*". Since then there have been a couple of rounds of upgrades to Platinum and Signature.

Citibank offered free for life promotions many years ago. Many of us signed up for the cards then. They have subsequently offered free upgrades of the free for life cards for many of the cardholders. For example I signed up for a free for life Platinum card many years ago and they recently upgraded it for free to Signature.

I have not seen a Citibank free for life promotion for a long time. Recently they instead offer sign up bonus points promotions. I would not waste my effort trying to get a free card from the Citibank call centre. You could try, but it is very painful dealing with them and they have little authority to do anything. You could however ask to cancel and maybe they would transfer you to someone in Card Retentions who has more authority (i don't know if they have such department). You could also try writing them a letter to someone in Australia.

When they offered fee free for life gold cards I'd had my Citibank card for close to 10 years, so I called the call centre who told me there was nothing they could do. I then faxed the complaints team and they gave me annual fee free for life. Two months ago they sent me an upgrade to platinum with my current annual fee which is $0. I'd like to get another upgrade, this time to Signature so that I could get 1.5 points per dollar, but I doubt that will be happening with this round of offers, maybe in a couple of years.

I received the same offer too. They upgraded me to signature card from gold without annual fee of $395.

Love you Citibank!

has any paid annual fee card holders or citigold members been offered an upgrade from platinum to signature? i called up they said there wasn't any upgrade offer for me to signature and that if i wanted too i could ask the relationship manger to arrange the upgrade. can citigold members get their credit cards upgraded to the signature card free and the annual fee waived through a relationship manager? I though that it was only the platinum card maybe things have changed.
