Hi all, same recurring question for an award seat.
Whats the options - maybe JAL - is this booked through 131313.

This wseems to me to be one of the most difficult sectors to get a premium class award.Often am offered JQ starclass via Cairns which i refuse.Have in the past used CX via HKG.
However checking every wednesday and saturday in Feb 10 there are J awards via PER.
JL awards i have never seen available, though sometimes the QF codeshare out of BNE operated by JL.Then again I might be trying at all the wrong times!

ISTR that JAL don't release any award seating until 2 months prior.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge here, what is the likely points disadvantage in using a one world partner (JAL) for a J award seat, and do you book through QFF service. Thanks for your comments.

Usually costs a few more points, plus phone booking penalty (2500 pts)

Table is here. Not sure where you're flying from but MEL-NRT is ~5087 miles and SYD-NRT is ~4871 miles. So in each case its 6000 points extra each way, plus 2500 for phone booking (I'm not sure if the 2500 is applied once to the booking, or once for each leg).

I have not been able to get paid business (D) seats on SYD-NRT whenever I have wanted to travel so I'm not surprised there is no (U)!

Be persistent and check regularly!!

Many months ago, I booked an award return trip for my partner in Y for Syd-Nrt on QF in May for 72000 (2x 36000) pts + $356.24 taxes / surcharges. I'm travelling in J myself on the same flight as work pays - you can see my dillema now!

Last nite, I noticed a business (U) seat [classic award] open up on the Nrt-Syd leg only. I rang QF up today and asked whether I could change the return leg from Y-->J class. No problem, it will cost an additonal 36000 pts (already paid 36000 for Nrt-Syd in Y, making it a total of 72000 for the one way J seat), 2500 pt fee for making the change, and wait fot it, a refund of $120.24 in surcharges / taxes as these had come down since I booked the flights! Thanks QF:!:

Now to ponder what to do on the Syd-Nrt leg:shock: Who will get the seat in front??
