Marvelous (maybe) for those wanting to fly international with release occurring now but has anyone else noticed that Qantas has removed all classic reward seats from Perth to Melbourne direct until at least early 2024. Can still get to Melbourne flying via Adelaide or elsewhere but not direct. Can still get home from Melbourne direct. There were plenty available on late Friday night about 3 weeks ago to Melbourne in J direct and plenty home. By midday Saturday the seats to Melbourne were all gone. Still had plenty getting home. Is this because seats kept as married segments for international reward seats being released now???

Might want to have another look. I can definitely see economy classic reward seats available before 'early 2024'. Eg for 26/3/2023:

And I can also see a number of business classic rewards available well before 2024.

Can you be more specific. Please provide, for instance, a date from Perth to Melbourne direct.
Check the post. There are many others that I can see as well for both economy and business class. Eg's March 27 and March 28 for economy. Also multiple dates in April that I can see. Below is the screen shot for some dates in March. I'd suggest you look at how you are searching for award seats. They are definitely showing for me.

Thanks for the post but you posted an economy reward seat but my thread specifically stated J. Gone are the days when I bother with an economy seat unless the flight only has economy to a location on a permanent basis.
Granted I was referring to a reward seat late July 2023 when I said that on the Friday night there were plenty and the next day all gone. Nothing from that date essentially until early 2024 eg January 2024. Up until now, I have always been able to book 2-3 months ahead and guaranteed to get seat.
Can you provide an example you refer to say later this year??

"about 3 weeks ago to Melbourne in J direct and plenty home. " Granted in the early description, I didn't refer to Business class, only my reference quoted here for an attempt at a J booking.

There was the big classic reward seat sale Friday night, so it’s not surprising J seats are now scarce on that route. Perhaps even held back a few days prior ready for the event? Fly via ADL or SYD instead. If PC+, you’ll earn more SC for having to spend an extra hour or so travelling. Many savvy AFFers would do those routes by choice!
