Currently flying BusinessFirst on Virgin down to MEL from SYD. When they took drinks I requested a flat white and was told that wasn’t possible. Perhaps I am forgetting something here but I do recall being able to order such a drink on my prior Virgin flights (I’m flying on a 738)

What am I missing?

Was the reason offered? Was it due to unavailability of hot beverages on the sector (usually due to expected turbulence), or was it that a flat white was not available but you could have had an instant coffee?

Not sure what the normal offering for BusinessFirst (whatever that is) is, but I don't think they do flat whites (or have the Nespresso machines anymore) - but I would have thought a white coffee would have been possible (subject to not expecting turbulence)

Maybe they interpreted flat white in the literal sense (which requires an espresso machine)?

As others mentioned, filter coffee with milk is available when there's no turbulence.

VA hasn't ever had a cabin called BusinessFirst (that's what United used to call long haul business class some years back, before it became Polaris), but yeah, no espresso machines on VA's B737s.

They simply said all they can do is brewed (Americas) coffee.

That's what I wanted though. I recall flying them back in late 2021 in business and that being offered (at least as a pre-departure drink), then again maybe my memory is hazy there.

Old habits die hard 😉
