No First Class Award Flights to UK on AA.com?

Having just returned from my first ever flight in F from UK (thanks mainly to this forum) I decided to immediately stock up on miles and get a flight for myself and hubby next July/August. I wanted to see what is available before buying the extra miles required, and there appears to be no availability at all for first or business in July from SYD to LHR/MAN/GLA/NCL. This is looking on aa.com.
I am a mac user and not terribly computer literate, and have tied myself in knots following all the instructions to download and purchase KVS tool and crossover and weaver etc. I just can't get it to work.
Is anyone with access able to check on the KVS tool whether there is any one world availability- ideally Qantas for 2 people up until the currently available dates in July. We will be trying to fly out mid August to very early Sept, but if there is really no current availability whatsoever I don't want to invest in the AA miles. (We will need to buy about 40,000).
I am happy to go onto the flight award request thread and pay for specific flight advice at the time of booking, but I would like some general advice about the current situation.

presumably you are looking at QF/BA direct flights to avoid using two separate awards (i.e. Australia - Asia/Africa/Middle East + Asia/Africa/Middle East - Europe)? If this is the case, it's too early. There's nothing in July and you can only access award seats for only up to 330 days for award bookings on AA so you have to wait for another month to look at August 2015. However, these QF/BA F seats are notoriously hard to get , especially 2 of them at once, there is no guarantee anything will open up

If you've got lots of AA points to spare for two awards then you can go with the KVS suggestion above - via Johannesburg where there are J seats available. You can actually look them up yourself without using the KVS tool by signing up to British Airways FF program (its free, you will have to give them a fake UK address to sign up or a legit one of friends or relatives in the UK if you have them) and doing the search on the BA website but you need to remember you have to do it as a sector by sector search i.e. for example Sydney-Hong Kong or Doha or KL or JNB or whatever first and then HKG/DOH/NRT/whatever to LHR separately. BA shows almost all OneWorld airlines availability and that's exactly what the KVS tool uses

Also there is a chance you can go on Etihad as they are AA's partner but you will need to ring AA for their availability

First search the US aa.com.usually see more.
second even though flying from SYD try searches from BNE,MEL as well.
From BNE I see 2 J awards on 11/7 and 18/7-from SYD will only come up with 1.
Flights are QF 51 BNE-SIN and BA12 SIN-LHR.
On 25/6 there are 2 mixed class awards-J SYD-NRT then F on BA NRT-LHR but you still have to pay thr 80000 points.60000 for all business class.

And thanks for asking the question as someone had tried to hack my AA account.By a fluke of timing was able to head them off at the pass.

Great, thanks everyone for that info. I think I will chance it and buy the extra AA miles while there is a bit of an offer on and hope that something opens up when the time comes round. I am hoping to get direct flights to use one award (80000 miles )each. I had hoped to get to MAN ideally but looks like I will settle for anything we can get. Interestingly there seemed to be a lot more availability last year when I was booking for this July,(SYD to LHR with BA) and also 2 seats for my parents in December 2014 (GLA to SYD with QF). All F and booked just using the AA.com site. Maybe it was just lucky, or I was wondering if there is more demand or less award availability this year.
And drron- so pleased you were able to thwart the hacker.

Generally yes, with a few exceptions like for example CX seats that are "phantom"
