Hi all
Just a quick question in regards to redemptions on other airlines, i am travelling the following at the end of this year.

21st dec: Syd - Christchurch
1st Jan: Queenstown - Los Angeles
9th Jan: Los Angeles - Vancouver
19th Jan: Vancouver - Honolulu
23rd Jan: Honolulu - Syd

After being on the phone with singapore airlines for a good 3 hours yesterday they have said there is no available redemption flights on ANY of these routes on these dates or even dates either side. This was for Air NZL, Air Canada, United etc etc.

Can someone tell me why im having no luck redeeming my miles? surely its not because they have all been taken as this is 7 months in advance?

Its frustrating for me when i can be saving money on these flights with my miles.

Do more redemption seats become available closer to the date??

any advice would be great

At a guess I'd say they are all taken. Premium time of the year to travel.

To compare on QF you usually need to book close to 12 months out..

No offence. Is your question serious??

Peak time of the year to travel over Xmas and New Year not to mention school holidays. While we all sit here and argue how much $$ we spent to acrrue the frequent flyer points the airlines/credit card company etc designed these programs as a way to thank frequent flyer/buyers and fill empty seats. Over that period all airlines know that they can fill their planes without the need offer frequent flyer seats. Suggest using points for whatever you can get on a leg by leg basis it would be very unlikely that you will get all of those legs on points at that time.

ANA shows availability for LAX-YVR on 9 Jan, flight UA6483. Nothing else on those dates though.
