I have a Qantas AE due Apr, and a RM due end Jun. I use the RM exclusively. In Apr, I asked to cancel the Qantas as I hadn't used it once in the past year. They said they'd waive the fee, just keep it around. OK fine. Now my RM comes up, I ask them if they could waive it, they can't. They even talked to someone else and they can't, even if my other option would be to cancel. So they prefer me to have a Qantas I never use than a RM I use to about 15k/yr. A bit wierd. Or did the economy go that bad from Apr to now?

Perhaps American Express is feeling the pinch. What are you going to do? Keep the Rewards Maximiser?

I have a Qantas Premium card that I use for Qantas purchases only and it is not due for the annual fee until January 2010. If the fee is not waived I will be cancelling the card now that the outstanding balance is down to a manageable level.

I threatened to cancel back in January after the boni points debacle and was credited $500 at the time.

Was advised to call back when my annual fee was due and that would be credited back as well, that is due in a few months so I'll see what they say and report back here

I have dropped my spend off my proper Amex card onto the SQ card at the moment so that may or maynot help me.

If they do not waive the fee I'll cancel the card...maybe....

No choice, had to drop the RM. The Qantas gives me less insurance vs the nab Qantas and only 0.25pts more. So now I carry 3 cards - 2 nabs and 1 amex. All purchases with warranty go on the nab amex. Would the MR options have swayed me to using the RM card? Maybe, since MR points much more usable than Qantas and I can buy store warranty extensions anyway. Just put 1500 on a camera that would have gone on the RM otherwise.

DON'T believe them, they can :!:

They waived my Rewards Maximser annual fee last month and waived my Ultimate Qantas card annual fee due next month today. :)

The Rewards Maximser fee waiver was post to my account as :

1 Jul SPEND INCENTIVE REBATE CREDIT $250.00 :)

You must spend a lot (?)
Well they took away my RM, and frankly I'm not very excited about using my remaining Qantas Prem. card. I get QFF points I'm unlikely to be able to use, and my nab visa gives better other benefits...
