On the 1st of January I had specifically booked F class fares on AA6874 (SEA-SFO) & AA1072 (SFO-LAX).
Upon arrival at SEA I was checked in as per original booking and proceeded to the Admirals Club lounge to wait for the flight.
The reason for the split flight, instead of going direct was to earn 90 & 60 status credits which would have taken me over Gold re-qual level, plus a shot at hitting WP prior to renewal.
There was no instant upgrade option, and with weather concerns the F fare was easy to change if need be.
Anyways, I get to the boarding area and straight away heard my name being paged.
The first flight to SFO had been put on hold due to mechanical reasons and they wanted to put me on a direct flight to LAX. I stated that I didnt want to change, as the flights booked were for earning reasons, plus I paid over $150 more to do the flights the way I wanted rather than a direct fare SEA-LAX.
The agent said I would be credited with what I originally had booked, and even made a typed notation on a new boarding pass to LAX that the new flight was a devaited flight with my QFF number as a reference.
Well, there was some activity on my QFF account this morning, however it was points awarded for flight AS466 SEA-LAX and no status credits earned (due to it being an Alaska Airlines code).
I must say I am not overly impressed, yes, I knew the original SEA-SFO was operated by Alaska, however it was booked as an AA flight number, and the next flight SFO-LAX was to be on AA metal.
I have sent an email off to QF however I have a gut feeling I will get shafted on this.
grrrrrrrr...
