No round the world fares?

Hi brains trust

I am trying to book what I would have thought was a pretty standard round the world itinerary for a business trip in June:

SYD-LHR
LHR-JFK
SFO-SYD

Qantas will do it at $22k (thanks very much) but the only other options I have found are with stupid routings (eg LHR-JFK leg is via DXB)...

Have these types of itineraries dried up? Or am I looking for something that isn't right?

We do have a corporate travel agent but they are the most useless organisation I have ever had the misfortune to engage with and so I am not expecting them to come up with anything themselves...

This thread might have some ideas for you…
I saw that. I’ve tried both Lufthansa and Finnair but no success. Lufthansa provided a cheap fare but the SYD-LHR was via SFO and all on United metal!

It is weird that the multi-city search on Finnair doesn't seem to let you add more than 2 legs - odd bug that wasn't there previously.

Typically, you'd need to search SYD-SIN-HEL-LHR + LHR-HEL-JFK + SFO-SYD.
SYD-SIN would usually be on QF or BA,
then AY for SIN-HEL-LHR and LHR-HEL-JFK
then either QF or AA for SFO-SYD

Id suggest in this case getting a Travel Agent (a real one not flight centre) to get you a quote.

The rtw.oneworld.com tool quotes about $14k but the Finnair deal is usually at least $6k cheaper.

You have to book these via a Travel Agent.

Even besides those fares, go to a Travel Agent (reputable one, not on-line). Constructing itineraries to suit pax is what they do for a living.

Obviously will depend on your dates but Skyscanner is showing $16.8k for the following itinerary (all J):
- SYD-DXB-LHR (QF ticket on Emirates metal)
- LHR-JFK (direct BA)
- SFO-SYD (direct QF)

oneworld Explorer

Continent-Based Air Travel

No matter where business or pleasure takes you, oneworld's vast network means your Round The World trip via oneworld Explorer fare makes it easy to travel from city to city, and continent to continent. And, for every dot you connect, you earn more miles and points to spend across the oneworld Alliance.

Ex OZ base fare for DONE4 (Business Class) is $13,749; AONE4 (First Class) is $19,139 .

These will even provide an itinerary of up to 16 segments including up to 6 segments between JFK/SFO ...

I am currently on a RTW J fare booked via a Travel Agent for $8k. As a leisure trip we had some flexibility which may not always be the case on a business itinerary of the OP. So instead of going via the ubiquitous SIN we ended up with a two day stopover in Seoul.

We also used the RTW fare to do the long haul part of our itin and have been using individually booked tix to fill in the gaps and provide flexibility in Europe.
