No VA coded Singapore Airlines flights?

I thought the code share had returned? I'm velocity gold and about to book return flights for my partner & I from Perth to LHR via Singapore - but the flights do not appear on the virgin Australia website?

I understand for the same booking I would get eligible sectors, more status credits & more points if flying on a VA coded flight rather than SQ - is there any way to book this?

A quick search from Perth to London and they come up doing a normal booking on the Virgin Australia website.

Thanks, for some reason it seems the SQ flights display up until 21st November only, Qatar flights showing for later dates. Guess that means you can only book ~37 weeks out on SQ and I was looking at 7th December - 6th Jan so fingers crossed if I hold off for a few weeks will have better luck

From what I understand, be aware, by booking via VA you will not be able to choose seats etc. So it may involve phonecalls and finding out a SQ PNR perhaps and hopefully that will work. Not so sure. Certainly it seems to cost a little more booking through VA also. By doing it via SQ you get to choose seats and add your VA FF number but indeed I suspect you get fewer status credits and points etc. Never straight forward is it!

An airline will always give more benefits to their own fliers in their own FF system.
Earning classes also might play an effect, there are some rare classles that might not earn.
So, as above mentioned, best to book under the SQ website, and enter your SQ KF # if you have one, then transfer the points under the FF KF & VFF points swap to move points to VFF.
Yes, you earn less under the points transfer, but as least booking with SQ, you know your class will earn points under KF, and its a straight down drop of 35% loss in the points transfer.
I do have a SQ KF account, and when the time comes for to book int flights again apart from NZ, I will book with the SQ website, enter my SQ KF # and then later transfer points back to VFF.
Edit: with the SQ & VA, it says "earn points in an eligible class" ***
Earn Points per mile flown when you travel in an eligible class on Singapore Airlines1.
***
If you don't keep track, or your TA books you, you might just find your subclass of travel is in an "ineligible class".

I'm more interested in the status credits than the points - should be 240 credits total via SQ or 280 via VA (allowing for family pooling) and counts for all eligible sectors I'd need for the year.

That said it does appear that just booking via SQ direct and entering my VFF number may be the best way to go, especially as I fancy a stop off in Singapore on the way back which will be infinitely easier with SQ.

Thanks for the input all.

But don't you get fewer VFF points this way compared to entering the VFF# straight up instead of putting in KF?

And I thought the eligible class bit is mostly referring to award tix which are not eligible.

Yes, in the end, you will earn less VFF and no VFF SC earnt, by putting in your SQ KF # into the SQ booking.
But to each their own.
Just remember to keep track of the class (rev tix), that you are booked into, and that they do earn under VFF.

Having this same issue trying to find business class flights from Perth to Singapore in February. Comes up as nothing available on the Virgin site but lots of options on the Singapore site. Need to be on a VA flight code as need a few more sectors flown to maintain status. Will drop down a tier if I'm on a SQ flight code.
