Non Australian Produce in Lounge Catering

I had a subtle reminder tonight from QF catering about something that really bugs me in the air and in the QP, why do QF continue to use foreign food products, notably Danish butter?? Surely an Australian produced product is not going to break the bank?


QANTAS, the spirit of Australia, except we serve foreign produce on our domestic flights!

Sure, and let's get rid of the fancy French champagne in F that everyone seems to rave about as well!

And those foreign made airplanes as well! Surely QANTAS should only be flying Australian made airplanes.

Whilst it's good to see QANTAS showcasing Australian food, there is no need for overt parochialism in business. Trade and experiences of things from other places makes us better off - materially and mentally

Well that really depends on whether or not they are serving Anchor ( yuck!) or Lurpak ( yum). I would prefer the best produce regardless of source.

I don't think we can match it when it comes to bubbly or large pax aircraft, but surely we can showcase the local offering if it's up there amongst the worlds best, even if it might cost an extra 5c a serve.

Likewise (and agree re the Champagne; Aus Bubbly does *not* cut it). Lurpak is just good

It's from Normandie, it's gorgeous and you won't look at Lurpak ever again ... promise! Oh, and keeping OT, I'd definitely fly more frequently with QF if it was available in QCs.

Or, if you live in BNE, head down to the West End markets on a Saturday and find the French stall that are selling various cheeses and butter's. The salted butter is truly 5 STAR!
They make it themselves here in QLD and it's the best l have had in a very, very long time. Maybe QF should get butter from these guys. l would even go so far as to say that it (might) be better than the above mentioned.

Yes I've tried that v. tasty OT please can QF look at some sort of Life Time Platinum. If you can guarantee me access to the Flounge when I've time to stop and smell the roses that would be a massive incentive to continue my patronage above and beyond the required SC to retain WP.

SWMBO has a major fear of flying and the president's butter is the only thing that can induce her to talk about returning to france. We'd definitely be flying more if it was in the QC and not just me, but the whole family.

Check out New Caledonia, medhead. The brand is also readily available there - and that's a much shorter flight <OT> - via QF/SB - than la belle France! And a not too dusty SC run to boot.

CX/BA uses OZ butter

I've also seen Australia butter on AY (IIRC). It does amaze me how Australian butter ends up on foreign carrier planes!

Now .. Pop question for people listening. Which part/s of the new Qantas status packs is produced in China? Only one item had a "made in" label... but I suspect the entire product was produced there.

ISTR seeing that particular phrase on a plastic envelope or two recently, although your suspicion may be very well founded indeed!
