Hi,

I have been one year in Perth as an exchange student but I unfortunately reached the end and am going back to Belgium on the 26th of june.
I got a lot of presents here and will have to take them all in the plane with me.
I have around 40 kg of baggage of which a surfboard and a didgeridoo.

My problem is that I'm flying with Qantas from Perth to Singapore and from Singapore to London, But my final flight from London is operated by British Airways.
Because of that, I can't manage my flight from "your booking"
The person on the phone from Qantas wasn't of great help so I wanted to ask you : how can I get excess luggage and sporting equipment ? May I have problem when I flight with BA as they don't have the same policies ?

Thank you very much for your answer ! :)

Qantas Baggage | Pre Paid Additional Baggage

Click on the above link from the QF website showing excess baggage charges which are charged by the piece. This would undoubtedly be cheaper than the old way where it was charged by the kilo so if you had 17 kilos excess x $60.00 per kilo you would have been charged AUD1,020.00.

Included in the price of your ticket is one piece up to 23 kgs. A maximum of two additional bags if pre-purchased online via the manage my booking portal cost $90.00 per piece. If you have problems accessing this portal I'd call QF back and see if they are able to assist you.

If the excess baggage is purchased at the airport the cost of the extra pieces is AUD120.00 per piece.

Note that if the weight of this bag or any of the excess pieces of baggage weigh 24-32 kilos you will be charged a heavy fee of AUD50.00 per piece.

If your PER/xSIN/LHR/BRU is all on the one ticket the IATA resolution 302 rule applies as your travel is between area 3 & area 2 which means the baggage allowance of the most significant carrier (MSC) applies which in your case is QF. QF should be able to check your luggage all the way through to BRU.
