Novotel Auckland Airport ... Hotel Upgrade(!)

So... I booked a room at the Novotel in Auckland at the airport. And was informed I had received an upgrade. Not a room upgrade. A hotel upgrade(!)
I wonder why they did that? The Pullman is a lot nicer then the Novotel and it’s got a good executive lounge and bar.

I _think_ it was just a standard King. (Room 721 in case anyone knows better)
I think there base room is called Superior King, which is what I've got. Hoping for a platinum upgrade with maybe a runway view. I've got 48 hours there and need something to look at

And just a quick update to confirm. Super comfy bed, really good rainfall shower, and absolutely silent for a good night's sleep.

The reception staff are super lovely, and for anyone who arrives late when the bar is shut, they seem to be open to you using your drinks vouchers to grab something from the mini bar (that's what I was told I could do, at least).

They told me the same thing about the mini bar, so it might be their standard policy.

I’ve also been allowed to use my voucher to grab a coffee - the coffee shop opens at an ungodly hour (definitely by 5am) for anyone with an early flight.

And miss out on the fun of being stuck in the cupboard Flounge?

...Good idea!

Interesting "upgrade".(Accor Plus Gold)

When checking in last night, I was advised that the upgrade was to an Executive room on the 8th floor and included lounge access and brekky in the morning, great, so I thought!

Arrived for brekky, asked if I wanted full or continental. Full, as it was included with Exec. room. Was asked to please sign docket for $45 to your room as upgrades do not include brekky. I informed the lady looking after me that I haven't been charged for past upgrades too which she said it's for accounting reasons and to speak to the staff at check out.

When I checked out, not only was I asked to pay for 1 brekky but 2, really????

Asked for Supervisor. I explained the situation and was told that the upgrades don't include brekky anymore and was sorry for the mix up and the inconvenience and waved the charges.

Thankyou. Would have been nice to have been told of the changes when checking in!

That’s poor by them.
Yes, some hotels will upgrade you but tell you at check in that the upgrade has no lounge access or breakfast included which is what should’ve happened here

I've just received another free upgrade to the Pullman from the Novotel for my overnight stay this weekend.

I may have to doss around in New Zealand more often, if this keeps up!
