I am thinking of stopping a night in KL on the way back from BKK so as I can sample MH J.
What is the best way to get from airport to hotel?

Cheers CM

Not stayed at that hotel but recently stayed in KL. I'm a happy public transport user. In this case I would get the express train from airport to KL Sentral (can't recall the fare, maybe 55 or so ringgit, approx 30 minute trip), then get a cab from there to the hotel (local rail is possible from KL Sentral but fiddly in this case, as it involves changing stations - via a walk - and a bit of a hike at the end, happy to supply details if you want).

If you decide to cab it from KL Sentral a driver is likely to approach you outside and nominate a price that is extortionate (i.e. no meter). There are a couple of adjacent booths inside KL Sentral where you can pre-purchase a 'docket' for the fare (just tell them where you are going), based I think on a zone system, which cuts out any need for bargaining/argument with the driver. One booth is for 'budget' cabs, which in fact are 'standard' cabs, and I think the other is for 'luxury' cabs. I used the budget, and while the cab was a bit tatty, it had aircon and got me there OK. For the record, a driver approached me outside and quoted me 40 ringgit for my destination. That's when i went back inside to the booth and purchased a docket for 18 ringgit.

I've no idea re cab/hire car prices from airport to hotel, but think they would be more.

PS. Hakka restaurant just across the road (or is it same side) is pretty good.

If you get a return trip on the express train from the airport and do it via the app or machine you can get it for 90 Rm ($30)

Use uber to get you from KL sentral to Bukit Bintang area. Should get < 10 RM

I'd nearly suggest staying at a hotel around KL sentral.

The express train is definitely the easiest, although it's also possible to take the bus for less than half the cost (10 RM, or 8.50 RM when booked online). It also gets you to KL Sentral, but takes about an hour. From KL Sentral, if you're HLO, you might like to consider the monorail. The walk to the station is through a shopping mall so it's quite easy. Note that the monorail can be seriously crowded during peak hours. Get off at Raja Chulan, and the Novotel is about 5 mins walk away.
