Anyone know the MCT at Narita?

I want to fly GUM-NRT on JAL942, and then connect onto QF62 to BNE.
2 hours 5 minutes connection.
Both in Terminal 2, so I'd imagine it should be fine, but I can't find anywhere where it actually says what the MCT is.
Always nice to know it's someone else's problem to fix if things go awry :)

Would this be on the one booking?

Yes, that appears to be the case given:

I take it your across the proposed move of the QF service to HND, when are you flying?
That’s a good point and definitely something to consider!

I’d be factoring a one night layover of these two flights aren’t on the same ticket.

The good news: looking at FR24, the JL492 service from Guam has an excellent record for on-time running.

I flew JL492 last year and went through immigration at the same time as the BNE folks. I bet the officers assumed I came from Australia with my Australian passport (I was the only non Asian in J)

When we used to fly JAL BNE -NRT - JFK the connection time at NRT was 65 minutes. Never missed a flight and quite often 20 minutes in the JAL lounge for a drink.

Would be booking through a travel agent.

The ticket would still be issued by an airline, likely either JAL or QF if that is a connection that they sell.

If the two flights are on a single "PNR" (ie: those booking codes like "CLQCVR") then if you misconnect you will be protected and the airline would reroute you on the next flight that has capacity at no cost.

If they are two completely different tickets: and you misconnect, you may forfeit the second flight.
As mentioned above, the JL492 service seems to have a very good track record of being punctual, so you may want to risk it. Other option is to allow a 1 night layover in Tokyo, which gives you a lot more contingency.

This is especially pertinent in this case due to the possibility that QF62 might switch to Haneda airport.

We are trying to help. Ask your travel agent for details about the above.

Thanks - I really appreciate it. I couldn't see a way to book it through the QF or OneWorld web sites.
Travel agent is trying to find out the MCT, but hasn't had a reply, which is why I asked here. :)
If it's not on the one PNR I think I'd overnight, just to be safe.
Thanks again.

I couldn't get it on a single ticket - JL don't offer fares between Guam & Australia.

I don't know if they can manually add two fares into the one ticket - and not to be rude, if your TA doesn't know where to find the MCT, I'm not confident they'll be able to do it. I'm sure it's possible with the right TA. Separate tickets on a single PNR is easier.

If you're doing this one way I'd look into QF rewards - JL oneway between Guam & Tokyo is expensive. And heads up, the lounge is rubbish in GUM.

Looks like Philippine Air and Korean both offer this as a connecting fare. Via MNL and ICN respectively.

Long layovers though. Play around with your dates on Google Flights.

TA has now confirmed that the 2 hour layover is fine. I am really grateful to have heard the wisdom here - this is such a great group!
