There have been a few discussion's re: the number of rentals required to qualify for Hertz#1 Club Gold President's Circle on this forum. I can confirm that it's 30 rentals in one calendar year (jan-dec) in Australia.

I qualified with 33 rental in 2009. It took them a while and some phone calls to upgrade me to PC. Usually new status should be posted by April the following year. The status is maintained for a year ie in my case may to may.

Anyone who has not received their new status ring 1800 500 409 and press 3.

Status Qualification is done over a calender year while benefits are applicable April/May to end of March AFAIK, however the benefits of PC with Hertz have been diminishing significantly and vary dramatically by location, I am yet to receive the Yaris I keep booking so all is not lost :D

I've reached 30 rentals since January this year - within 6 months. Do you reckon they'd push me up to PC if I called them?

I'd have no incentive to continue renting with them for the rest of the year otherwise, as I'll be made PC in 6 months time, and could spend my money building status with another company in the mean time...

swylie, Did you phone , them, if so how did you go?

I'm still in the process - after several calls and emails, they've put me onto the Hertz program manager for my CDP #.

She's contacted me via a voicemail message - misse her call - and she's agreed to upgrade me, but left a mobile number to call her back which didn't work - all seems incredibly dodgy and odd.

I have yet to try to get back in touch with them to sort it out.

Yesterday I received an email from Hertz saying I'd just requalified for 5* - which doesn't make any sense at all regarding either the time of year or the fact that I should have qualified for PC if anything.

Will keep you posted - and good luck if you're thinking of trying the same!

I would not be too fussed about PC, the benefits are not worth the effort and not always provided.

Within Australia I have never had any issues with getting the guaranteed availability nor with getting upgraded ( up to max of guarantee D-F ) and never had an issue getting an upgrade in the US

In the UK, however, there are only a handful of locations where gold benefits are offered and 5*/PC sucks there imo

What is so good about being a PC anyway?!

Guaranteed availability (with 2 hours advance booking) plus guaranteed 1 class upgrade ( max D-F ) is pretty decent and worth it. Have made use of the guaranteed availability, plus being PC, the location will get a statesman in when I book a D; if I was 5* the upgrades are only subject to availability so D-Fs ( would be less common ) .

That explains it. I am a cheapskate hiring a Corolla anyway, so max upgrade to a Camry only

I logged into my account the other day, and it shows me being PC now. I am not sure why as I have not ever come close to the 30 rentals. However my rentals generally are 1 to 2 weeks, and at the higher end, i.e. prado's at $180 per day, other times its the group D's overseas. So maybe they also take into account the number of days hired or the revenue as a total, otherwise I don't know why I have been given it (and haven't received a new card), I am yet to hire again as a PC so not sure if the upgrades will occur

I'm not sure if they even send out membership cards these days. I haven't received a new PC card for a few years now. In the US, there is a spend level that will also provide for it, so maybe they are aplying the same here. I didn't realise that Hertz had Prados ( no apostophe :) ). If renting such vehicles then you are not likely to get much in the way of upgrades , so may find PC lacking in benefit

There's not really too much to upgrade to in the Pilbara anyway...

They only send out a new card (in Oz, presumably elsewhere as well) when you change levels IIRC. No more cards when you renew your status. This came in about 2 years ago.

They still give them on changing status then? I did wonder on that; my current membership card expired in april 2007

I suppose they could upgarde to a Landcrusier, but I prefer the Prado. The upgrade I would like to see would be from the XR6 when I hire out of AKL. Also it would be nice to have car packed in the PC parking area rather than halfway doen the parking lot. On the other hand, the cars I get in AKL are always very nice, except the kermit the frog green XR6 they gave me l:shock:ast time.

My 5* card has no expiry date.
