Hi

I am almost certain the answer is no, but I thought I would double check as my googling has brought up little.

I am flying from Wellington -> Sydney via Christchurch on Saturday and I wish to purchase some goods from the duty free at Wellington airport (some icebreaker clothing).

Can I purchase it duty free as I will have a ticket for an international flight that day? I believe the catch is that the Wellington -> CHC is a domestic flight.

Alternatively, I do read that NZ offers a "pick up on return"

Could I order it over the phone and pick up the duty free on arriving in to Wellington?

Any suggestions other than mail order?

In theory you should be able to purchse, and declare it when you leave. I say in theory b/c it'll be a PITA to go through all that and surely collection upon return will be easier.

You also have the issue of security clearance onto an international flight in CHC and if anything you buy has >100ml container of liquid in it you wont be able to bring through. (I say this b/c those who had bought liquids in SCL and transitted AKL had major major issues)
