Over the weekend I purchased something with eBay, used my Paypal account and chose my Qantas Cash card as the payment option. Received a receipt and thought nothing more it until I had a brain wave that I'd not used Paypal since moving from WP to P1, so quickly checked my Paypal account and found it listed the card with my old expiry date. Checked Qantas Cash and the amount has been debited though, so what gives?

My number has stayed the same, but the CVV changed and the expiry year increased, however the payment still went through. Does this mean my old WP card is still valid? I'd have thought it would cease to be valid when my new card was activated!

Can anyone shed any light on this behaviour?

I guess this may be the resolution of those who had the reverse issue of this whilst being away, I.e having a new card issued as they moved through status but being away so not being able to use the new card but having the old card default on them.

Yeah I started a thread about my colleagues issue with his card becoming invalid during a US trip after he went from Bronze to Gold. Be good if they have fixed it, but I thought they said it was a Mastercard issue and it couldn't be fixed...

Assume the original expiry date was still valid though..
Paypal actually lets you use cards right up to expiry.

Will be interesting to see if payment ultimately gets rejected.

Yes it was... I'll definitely be watching closely.

Item is posted though :p
