I am 60 Status credits away from reaching Gold and I received this email from Qantas offering me double status credits for all domestic flights for the next 3 months to help me achieve Gold.

Are such offers common?

Lucky you. When did you receive it? I followed up Qantas to see if I could get it as well but they said sorry you are out of luck.:( With my current flights I would go straight to SG....now am looking short.

Good luck to you. :)

No such luck for me. I am 45 SC's short of Gold but they can see I have 570 SC's of confirmed travel by end of February and another 105 SC's confirmed travel by beginning of April. Double SC's would have helped towards the Lifetime Gold target, which may not mean much in a few years anyway.

This offer was sent out in an email in the last week of Nov. Like you guys I dont have any confirmed bookings untill Feb (which is my cut-off date). Interestingly they emailed me the offer only after I finished the last leg of my recent trip.

Please note that the subject of the email was also nothing special, it was the normal monthly newsletter email (I normally dont even open these emails - but lucky me I opened that one)

The offer is only for DOMESTIC travel while from my records they know that I rarely travel domestic....

That is interesting. So they do vary the targetted double SC's offers!

The offer I received 2 years ago was for any travel between November 15 and February 15. A return trip SYD-SIN, 100 SC's, and a return trip SYD-BKK, 120 SC's, was enough for me to requalify Silver. I did no further flying in that membership year enging May 2005.

Never any such offers by QFF for me, even when my travel with them was much less than it is now.

I had one such offer in , iirc, 2001 when they offered double miles plus double SCs . Would be nice if mr postman brings me a letter with a double SC offer again

My double SC offer occurred the same time Tesna was supposed to have got up and running.

Does anyone know whether Jetstar JetFlex Domestic flight qualify for this double status credits offer?

Thank you.

You would need to look closely at the actual wording of the offer. The ones I have seen always specify "Qantas and QantasLink Flights", so I would assume this excludes Jetstar.

I can confirm that Jetstar domestic flight does not qualify for Double SC offer. This is quite a pity because my company book flights through Qantas business portal and the price between Jetstar and Qantas flights are the same :S And most of the flight that I booked through early next year is with Jetstar :S

I recieved this offer in the email also, however I flew Sydney - Brisbane - Mt Isa yesterday on Fully Flexible, so recieved 20 + 30 Status Points, which is exactly the same as I recieve every other time I come up here, i.e. no double status points. Will have to ring them up and chase it up. Has anyone who recieved this email, and flown actually recieved double status points without having to chase Qantas about it ?

I didn't need to contact Qantas. Originally my flights showed as normal earning status credits then a couple of days later magically new entries

28 NOV 06 EXCLUSIVE STATUS CREDITS BONUS
QF 2165 ECONOMY 25NOV06 PORT MACQUARIE/SYDNEY - - - 0 10
28 NOV 06 EXCLUSIVE STATUS CREDITS BONUS
QF 2174 ECONOMY 28NOV06 SYDNEY/PORT MACQUARIE - - - 0 10

This clicked me over to silver & the package from Qantas arrived in mail today.

I just had a look in my account. The flights show as 20 and 30. I was 60 short of silver before the trip, and the status now shows as silver, so I guess they doubled them, and not updated the activity statement.
Do you know if the Qantas Club pass is for one person, or one visit ? Was wondering if I can take my wife when we go overseas.

I believe it says one person and one visit. It can be anytime and there is no restriction that you need to fly QF at the time. I believe that you cannot use it on non-QP OW lounges eg. AA or CX.

Just thought I would mention this. I am a PA and my boss used to travel quiet a bit and easily retained his Platinum status each year, but when he moved companies (where we started working together) his travel was limited to only domestic flights and so he did not qualify for Platinum status any more. He asked me to send a letter on company letter head (well know international company) explaining that he had a busy 12 months planned travel internationally with clients and that he thought that since he was a loyal customer he would like them to re consider his Platinum status.

I thought yeah right this is not going to work (knowing darn well he did not have any overseas trips planned let alone actually booked and paid for) but it did!!

12 months after that with no international flights he of course had another letter saying he would not retain his status. He again asked me to send another letter ‘since it worked so well this last time’. But this time I actually had the details of our company’s account manager and thought hey maybe it would work again. But sadly no go.

Anyway I just thought I would share this. It may never work for anyone else (maybe the letter fell into the hands of someone having a very good day the first time) but it is definitely worth the try.
