I know VA have to do maintenance on their lounges BUT i just got a call from VA to inform that the VA lounge will be closed when i try to use it before my 1:45am flight to DRW tonight. My last flight was through BNE when the lounge was closed so that's twice in a row. I appreciate the call but FFS.

Apparently there are free vouchers but there's bugger all open in the terminal at that time.

Grrrrr.

Here's a little learning experience...

If you call after hours to velocity, enter your gold #, they then send your through to a machine which tells you that the gold line is closed and call back tomorrow. I would think it would make more sense to connect you to the regular call centre when that happens as opposed to hanging up on you.

- Golds can taster upgrade from saver fares
- Golds can taster upgrade the night before an early flight (call GAD after 7pm)
- If you have two flights on the same day, you can upgrade both at the same time

And finally...if you want to do a taster you can call a special number and you'll connect to a real person within 2 mins.

Sadly, all of this will be gone in two weeks...

Ohh. We have been trading that secret about golds on saver fares in the underworld like drugs in Melbourne for a week now....

Didn't know about the second one, calling the night before for an earlier flight. Thanks for that.

Yeah, most of the secrets are out of the bag now. The third is quite good - so if you have a return day trip somewhere you can upgrade both flights in the morning or even the night before (if the first one is early).
