Looks like I am finally off QFs op-up blacklist with a whY to J upgrade today - the result of cancelling the flight ahead of me - from 23J to 3J - done at the gate after OLCI and using the QF card as the BP - saw the change of seat flash up at the BP reader.

Fina-fricken-ly!

Yes enjoy! We always live in hope when the BP scanner flashes Red.

Congrats. I have been wondering how this would be handled. So did the red light flash and say seat change?

No red flash here - the slip came out as normal - I just noticed on the scanner that the seat had changed - no other indication that the seat had changed.

Though the FA did say to the other FA that she had had a lot of seat changes on this flight.

If you have a paper boarding pass with a seat number on there, it will flash red and say something like invalid boarding pass, if you use your Qantas card, since it has no seat embedded into it, it will print off the new seat number with out any red flash!

Note to self. Always check the seat on the popup printout as it may have changed from that booked. :)

The double beep is no certainty for an upgrade, as the last double beep I got was before boarding a 717...

But well done Simon!

So true.

Last time I had a double beep I went from 23J to 52A!

Thanks for the clarifications. I had been wondering what would happen in that situation, and have previously discussed it with some FF'ers. Unfortunately nobody knew, as none had been in that situation before!

Does pay to check the paper slip...
