Hi,
Can some one confirm if the following is true. If you have a domestic connection that connects to an international flight and say you on line check in at T23:59 for your domestic leg, it also has to check you in for your international leg. Say that leg is not until T28 apparently the on line booking will not allow you to request an upgrade on the international leg even though it is still more than T24. Is this true and if yes, do you think if that occurred you could ring and request the upgrade still. Me am thinkign it might be a flaw in their engine.....

Could wel be, Tas - but for me, I'd be putting in my request for any upgrade ASAP rather LAP (late as possible)!

(1) You can request online upgrade at T-24 of the (first port of departure) of the relevant segment.

(2) If you have an international upgrade request in (whether with or without a precedeing domestic connection) it is best to checkin at the airport.

There is some anecdotal evidence that checking in can negatively affect your upgrade request - ie staff looking manually at an upgrade request will see that person is checked in already and by pass them to an upgradee who has not checked in.

The reason for this is that it is much more difficult for Qantas to touch a reservation (for example to process a points upgrade) for a passenger who has already checked in. I understand that this is an IT (Amadeus Altea) issue.

I don't believe this is true. I always check in online, and have never been denied an international upgrade request on many international legs for 2 pax, and my partner has no status.

What Serfty has illustrated before is that the 3 factors are: Status, fare and length of QFF membership.
