Oman Air planning to join Oneworld in 2024

Agree, brilliant airline. Was blown away with how good they were.

Terrible news. 🤣

Hear me out ....

No doubt some of their more affordable business class fares they sometimes have from SE Asian ports will become less affordable once the QF crowd find out and are unleashed onto them.

Sinbad member since 2016 :) My Sinbad miles expired in 2020.

I just reviewed my TR on Oman Air in J from 2016 (DOH-MCT-DOH). It was horrid - I was so disappointed! But they were serving booze during Ramadan .

Yes, agree! It has excellent on-board service and the lounge at MCT is very, very good.

The only problem is as a smallish airline, if one plane fails it may create big problems in schedule recovery.

I certainly don't want 1000 QFF members looking at its availability every day, though it's helpful in avoiding this that WY does not fly under its own steam to or from Oz.

WY appears to have 'affordable' J fars from MNL (especially) and BKK pretty much constantly.

I was just looking at an interesting fare today for mid next year. Pity they won’t be in OW until mid the following year.

Looked like they were selling a fare ex-KUL codeshare on MH to MCT then onto Europe. Perhaps the WY code will provide better points & SC than the underlying MH sector in due course?

What is the status of Oman and becoming a part of One World?

It's happening in 2024 is my understanding. I just flew J with them Milan - Muscat - Kuala Lumpur and was very pleased with them. Cabins, seats (apex suites in J), amenities and bedding were excellent. Food was average and service a bit cold/distant but not too dissimilar to other middle eastern carriers I've encountered. Looking forward to them joining the alliance.

In June 2022, it was announced that WY would join OW early in 2024. As far as I can ascertain, there has been no public progress announcements on the deal. I recently contacted WY for an update, but they were unable (or unwilling) to provide any additional information. I am planning a trip to Europe ex BKK on WY early 2024 and wish to maintain OW connectivity. Does anyone have a foot in the door with OW HQ for an update ?
