I have been using this forum for some time - but I am now on a mission to accrue Qantas status. I have been a Velocity platinum member for a few years and recently dropped to gold...they have always been my airline of choice. However, last year they lost my business partners bag and never found it - so she refuses to travel with them (to be fair the customer service she received was terrible).

Now that we are flying qantas, it would be nice to have status - however, we don't do a significant amount of travel. Maybe once a month domestic and twice a year international at this stage.

Anyway, I knew this would be the place to come to get some advice :-)

This post is probably worth a read: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....re/shortcut-your-way-qantas-status-75613.html

As you're currently a Velocity Platinum member, it's definitely worth requesting a status challenge from Qantas. If it's offered to you, I believe you would need to earn 400 status credits in 3 months.

Another option would be to do a status run. Have a browse of the Qantas Frequent Flyer forum, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of useful information on the best & cheapest status runs available.

A worthy mission indeed, and common to many members here, so plenty of advice to be had.

Welcome to AFF hroebuck79!

Terrible Virgin customer service? How can anyone think that's possible?

Terrible service can happen on amy airline.

Anyway if you are starting from scratch and Qantas wpnt status match - I suggest AAdvantage may be a better program.
