My name is yosithezet and I'm addicted to points and miles. I'm not looking for help to break my addiction.

Assuming my visa comes through, I'll be relocating to MEL within the next few months. I spend a week a quarter or so down under but living there will be new to me.

I've been gaining amazing value from FlyerTalk for the past 6 years. Since I'll be moving down under it makes sense that I should be able to gain even more value from a board with a local focus. In going through some of the posts I've already spotted some familiar usernames so I know I'm in good company.

Generally my travel is for business. I'm APAC presales director for a software company. My job description says to expect about 50% travel but last year I was on the road some 85%. That should come down a bit since the trips to Australia won't be necessary with me living there. I'll probably see an increase in short trips within ANZ.

On the hotel side I have been able to maintain Hyatt GP Diamond and SPG Plat for the past few years. I see SPG as my main program and should find some excuse to burn Hyatt points. I had over 200 hotel nights last year. Sadly some were in Mantra on Lt. Bourke where I couldn't earn anything of value.

I've got a US bank account so I churned lots of AAdvantage credit cards and am set with AA miles for a while.

As for airlines I've been flying LY from TLV into Asia and then using TG to get around Asia. I've earned TG Gold and LY Gold. However, I was able to take the TG Gold and get NW to give me Plat (slid over into DL Plat). The NW Plat gave me BD Gold. When BD pulled out of TLV I was able to get BA Gold comped. LY was a bit more difficult as they wanted to see flights. I put some OZ flights on BD and sent that off to LY. They eventually comped me Plat for 6 months with a challenge to get to about half of what is needed to qualify in 6 months to extend Plat for another year. I didn't make it but was able to get them to extend by showing them some good reasons to extend. Of course since I'd put some miles on BD it made sense to put some more on and re-qualify for Gold with hope that it will bring me M&M SEN with the merger. This was done while still re-qualifying for TG*G. I guess you could say that I get around a bit.

Other than that I love to cook and go to hip hop clubs (Anyone know of any in MEL where a 43 year-old won't feel out of place?) My waistline belies my love of fine food whether form a street cart or white tablecloth restaurant. I plan to work on the waistline once I'm settled in and I don't mean to build it out further. Also hoping to learn golf and some language skills. I hear yinz have a better life/work balance down under and I hope to take some advantage of it.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting lots of yinz in person over the coming years and hope to be able to add something to justify all that I'm sure I'll gain.

Oh, and... Go Steelers! (Gridiron)

Welcome to AFF. If you are going to be living in Melbourne you will have to find an AFL (Australian Football League) team to follow. None of that American football cough! My suggestion would be a team like St Kilda or Hawthorn maybe, but don't join the Collingwood army, there is enough of those bogans already.

Welcome yosithezet to AFF.Well known to me from FT.Especially on the SGS thread. However you lost me with the Steelers-Go Eagles!

Good to see you around here yozithezet

Would have been good to catch up with you in the Plaza Athenee last September but I'm sure with you moving down to MEL, there will be plenty of opportunity down the track.

Since you're fan of hip-hop etc, the Usher - O.M.G Tour is on down in Melbourne, 9,20 & 31 March 2011 :p

Thanks for the welcome folks.. er.. mates.

Usher sounds good. I usually keep an eye on Pollstar when I know the actual dates that I'll be somewhere. Saw Clapton & Beck in Tokyo and U2 in MEL this way. Judging by the upcoming calendar for MEL it looks like I'll have to pick and choose. So many good acts.

Good luck with the Eagles drron. I don't think they have another game until August.

As for footy. Though I have all of my teeth, I have a Magpies banner hanging in my office in Israel. This is mainly to shock my colleagues when they come to visit. But if I'm going to move down I guess I need to find someone to support. Collingwood seems to be a good fit for a Pittsburgher but I guess I should spend some more time considering my options. Perhaps I should support someone like Freo so I won't get in trouble with the locals.

Is there a meet up thread on AFF for seeing who is going to be in town at a given time with options to meet up?

Well yosithezet the Steelers made it.well done.that stand at the line at the 8 minute mark was the game winner i thought.
now i was born in sydney and followed Rugby League-the NRL.I followed the North Sydney bears who hadnt won a title in 76 years until the Administrators axed them from the comp-hence my natural affinity for the Eagles-great promise but always seem to stumble.

I do recall your handle around the SPG forum. Welcome to Oz yozithezet! :D

Don't worry, I've been here for close to 10 years and have not bothered to find an AFL team to support. :p This is due to my indifference to anything to do with sport except maybe swimming or pics of various athletes in gossip or fashion mags (don't see how exciting watching a ball fly from one end to another can be) rather than anything wrong with AFL per se.

I can empathize. I supported the Kolkata Knightriders in the IPL as their colors are the same as the Steelers/Pirates/Penguins.

Welcome!

Just a note that SPG status can be quite difficult to maintain with stays solely within Australia due to lack a properties (when compared to elsewhere).

As for the Conference championship, I still think that Sanchez "Fumble" was a forward/incomplete pass. Anyway, good luck to the Steelers; they'll need it, Aaron Rodgers is playing pretty well. (FWIW, I came 3rd this year in the FT NFL Fantasy League.)
