I am new to this forum and would appreciate some help.
We have (husband & myself) joined QFF and wish to travel to Paris or London next year. Husband has enough frequent flyer points for return trip but I don't.
We were hoping to get 1 FF award and purchase the other. What is the best way to do this so that we travel together. We are new to the program and haven't claimed an award flight so it is all new.

There are so many informative people on this site I would appreciate your help.

Thank you

Ellen10

Book your award flights the maximum numbers of days out (think 353? days) and you should do this first as the award seat will be the most difficult to get. After you have your award seat simply purchase your other ticket on the same flights, contact QF and have the two PNR's linked so they know you are a family and can be seated together.

Thank you Maca44

353 days out for departing flight so it doesn't matter that the return flight date is after the 353 days.
I would probably have enough points for a one way flight or part of a sector is this of any use or would I be better saving the points for another trip?

Are Qantas flights best or partner airlines? As some of these may be cheaper for the purchased flight.

You would book it as two separate tickets, but if you don't have sufficient points for a return trip, I would consider paying for both tickets as there is not much difference between the cost of a return flight and a one way.

You might want to have a look at a few options as far as how you use those points, for instance

1 Ticket Syd to London 128000 + Fuel Fines/Taxes
1 Purchased ticket $2906 from QF site

2 FF redemptions to Singapore 120000 + Fuel Fines/Taxes
2 purchased tickets SIN-London $2669 from QF Singapore Site

You would need to look at your actual dates and then flights obviously and also look at airfares not on QF site for Sydney to London as $2906 is not exactly a bargain, but also look at using the points to get you both to Singapore then buy a fare ex Singapore, this has the advantage of possibly better availability for redemptions and also keeping you both on the same ticket!

Thank you for your reply Maca44
Obviously a 1 way flight if not a good option.

Thank you for your reply Markis10
I wondered whether that could be done, but being a novice wasn't sure how.
So I can book flights from Singapore/London return to link up with the award flight. Is this hard to do online, or best to use a travel agent. Is sites like Best Flights a good option.

Sorry for the inexperience, I promise to get more knowledgeable. I've been gleening this FF site and learning lots of clever information

Thank you
