I've always been speaking of a boys trip to Asia and until one day a few months ago when expedia BR was pumping out el cheapo flights into Asia that finally gave us the chance to have a nice weekend away. We sat, researched, cross referenced calendars until there was a suitable weekend that fitted us all for a few sneaky days away as we patiently waited for the SYD - SIN - SYD itinerary to ticket.

After a day of waiting that didn't ticket so it was back to the drawing board to figure out a new route before the fares disappeared which resulted in a SYD - SIN - BKK - SYD which was pricing at $435. We would be in Singapore for 19 hours and Bangkok for 17 hours which was met with if it was worth it to fly for the amount of time which was met with yolo.

Our trip begins this Friday as two of us are positioning to SYD with one on QF and one on VA as we plan to meet the third in Syd. Two will be in the First lounge while one will be in the Business lounge which will make things interesting which we've been gambling on who will be the guest of the WP :p

The hotel of choice we've decided on are the Conrad in Singapore and the Grand Hyatt in Bangkok. One room for three blokes should be hilarious as we've booked for three so lets see who gets the roll away.

I've decided this will be a Live TR as we go so please do tune in from Friday and see what troubles the three of us will get into.;)

The last time i booked for 3 at the SIN Conrad, they gave me a centennial suite.

Should be an interesting trip...enjoy

I'm following two of you on instagram ; P

Looking forward to this. Did 24 hours of 'lads time' in BKK at the Conrad a few weeks ago and had an absolute ball - everything just went perfectly. You really can do whatever you want and be whomever you want in that city. I daresay you three might even be heading to some of the nightspots we went to as well : P

I would be surprised if they force one of you to the QF J Lounge if the three of you ask very nicely at the FLounge.

hehe thanks Smit0847! All checked in and ready to go with depart and arrival cards pre filled already. Have been confirmed by GH BKK that they will provide the most attentive and utmost care so will see what happens there although we already have a suite awaiting arrival.

Another sneaky thing is SWMBO thinks I'll be in Sydney for the weekend

So the day has started. I went to bed at 0130 and didn't get any sleep at all until 30 minutes before my scheduled alarm was suppose to go off.

I've said it once and I'll say it again that I'm not a OMG o clock person but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Received a phone call from VA stating my 0600 flight had been cancelled due to aircraft problems so they rebooked me onto the 0630.

A nice uneventful flight for VA with very professional crew.

I decided to go for the tomato and spinahhe omelette which was really bland and tasteless :(

Our flight got in 10 minutes to 8 which saw me waltzing to the QF terminal for the transfer to T1.

Just awaiting some breakfast, and a spa appointment, so far so good.

The boarding time was pushed back to 11:30 so it meant that some salt & pepper squid and minute steak had to be ordered in the 30 minute linger gap before boarding.

The meals didn't last long between the three of us and as we looked towards the clock it was 10 minutes to boarding which we decided to leave as the walk to gate was a long one.

We arrived just in time as boarding began to commence which saw us in the first row of Y

Pretty good knee and leg room although the best bulkhead I've experienced would be on Cathay.

The crew were standard on the flight and I remembered a sour FA who I encountered on a flight to LAX as she made her way through the cabin like the world hated her.

Crew handed out water bottles and menus after the seat belt sign was turned off. I went for the Asian chicken option which was tasty although got really hungry a few hours into the flight.

With trays cleared I made my way towards the rear and found a pair of emoty twin seats as I got comfortable and feel into a deep sleep.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1416322882.424094.jpg

I awoke again to only find that I've been sleeping for 3 hours and we still had 3 hours of flying time left which made the flight seem really slow. I made my way back to the original seat and began to socialse with my travel mates until we could smell the sliders.

They were delicious, but I guess everything is delicious when you're hungry. It didn't fill us up as they were really small servings.

The flight info was playing up and was showing time since departure = 16:25 hours which made the flight seem really longer, I mean 16:25 for a SYD - SIN on an a tree chirty surely beats the SYD - DFW :P

a sign of relief was when the captain announced that we would begin descent into the Land of Merlion.

As the plane touched down on 1.5 hours later on singapore soil we made our way through immigration and met our driver under the course of 9 minutes which was a delight as were starving and All that was in our heads were the thoughts of food, drinks as the weekend began as we made our way towards the Conrad.

Not for me last time - I scored the rollaway when we three "mature ladies" had a girls' week away. We had a fantastic time - laughed non stop!

Oh what a pity, just noticed the original date of the TR. Pity it stops so abruptly.

Hey love_the_life. Life got really busy with work hence the abrupt stop  - I'll put together the remaining TR up in a few days :)

found this thread whilst searching for bangkok hotel rec's - how was the grand hyatt in the end?

The GH is fabulous! Perfect location so its a quick walk to the major shopping centres.

The poolside is lovely to tan and r&r. The male spa and sauna area is massive so make sure to check that out if you plan to stay here.

I used my diamond membership to get a suite which was pretty nice.

We cleared immigration under 4 minutes which was amazing and made our way towards a counter to buy sims before meeting out driver who would take us to out hotel which was the Conrad.

We were escorted by a concierge member towards the lounge where we began to relax and have a few drinks while waiting for the room keys.

Nice view of the marina from our room.

I had booked a twin room with a extra roll away bed so it was paper scissors rocks or in our case who ever made it to the bed first wins.

We were starving after a few good minutes of relaxing so before we went out to eat it was down to the pool for a quick dip which was empty. As the sky above began to flash with lighting the boys were indecisive on where and what to eat so it was off to China town.

I went shopping and here's what we ended up with.

I had a friend in SIN so I texted to see if he was up for some drinks and a few moments later we decided on Mr Potato head - quite a nice quirky bar which produces amazing coughtails.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1427035741.624175.jpg

It was busy when we arrived so we stood towards the side of the room patiently awaiting a table to become free while deciding what coughtail we wanted.

Luck was on our side as a table became free 10 minutes after which was quickly snapped up.

The clock ticked over midnight as we decided to head towards a club which was a 10 minute walk from MPH - still sober and body clock was beginning to confuse itself so we powered on.

Free pour grey goose vodka for $10SGD?? I'll have 8 please. The night carried on as our party of 4 began to slowly dissapear as I was the last man standing. 3am and the music was still pumping I searched the club to find my trouble makers but there was no sign of them as I gave up and thought they must of went home with someone.

My friend dropped me off at the hotel and I was surprised to see both of them k.o'ed in bed snoring as I crashed in my single bed. So far so good, we've been good boys.

I was enjoying my sleep when whack, good old Brett decides to wake me up and keep him company at 7am local time. A bit of French was practiced as my head hurt like I walked into a wall - it was my first hang over. I do not have hangovers, ever.

10am MEL time mean a visit downstairs for breakfast. The smell of food made me want to vomit, I had a massive headache and decided I would have fruit and yoghurt then head upstairs for a quick nap.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1427036563.015456.jpg
Hangover face. First and last time, no more hangovers :)))

I admit having a 20 minute nap helped as I woke up fresh and decided to head down towards suntec for a quick round ofnshoppingnwith Brett. Amigo Mitch had only waken up so in the time that we went shopping he had breakfast and a quick swim. Brett and I chuckled as "white girl wasted" was used to describe him.

More juice as we head back to pick up Mitch and head off to yumcha.
