I am in the middle of this RTW in J. It has been punctuated by the odd delay (7 hours at LHR going to GLA and today in Prague the cancellation of a BA flight to LHR, which would have allowed me to connect with a flight to Las Vegas.

The BA passengers in PRA were told that the best BA could do was a departure on Saturday (flight cancelled Wednesday) for almost all. No compensation, no hotel - zip.

On a J award I expected to be told I was out of luck. Instead the agent acting for BA reallocated me on Lufthansa the next day PRA-FRA-DEN-(both Lufthansa) and DEN-LAS (on UA) all apparently in business Given the chaos all around me I was amazed - just hopeful of getting out of here and that the new itinerary holds up.

Sounds like a great experience (of service). I guess award J and paying for J are the same thing to BA, which is good.

Hope you make it out successfully.

One would hope/expect that an award flight would be treated the same as paid.

Well I only said it because I think it’s SQ that doesn’t let you access the same lounge or book on the A380 with an award ticket? So for BA to do all they can, shows they’re better in that regard than SQ.

If you haven't already, consider keeping receipts, notices and diary notes for any possible travel insurance claims.

WTF?

SQ treat J award tix same as paid J tix, in terms of lounge access. In F there are some nuances in relation to "suites" on the A380 (ie no awards) but IIRC F award tix now can access the "Private Room" at SIN (before could only access F lounge) and F lounge everywhere else.

And can book on A380 with SQ award ticket - just at double the points of a non-A380/77W (but when booked online 255K points for return to Europe - which is same as QF ).

In any event what does SQ awards have to do with BA rerouting in weather related delays? A fair comparison would be how SQ handles such a situation.
