One World Routing To Dubai

I need to be in Dubai in the middle of May, and my budget is tighter than other trips, but I'm going to end up this year very close to 2400 SC's, so I'm keen to maximise every trip, even with a random, nonsensical routing.

I'm thinking at the moment about a JQ Business Class (never sounds right saying that) fare to BKK, the maybe RJ to DXB via AMM. If I get a good JQ deal (big if), looks like I could do this trip for around $4-$4.5K. Beyond the current budget, but justifiable. Pity the guy that used to do this trip, hated flying, and just always booked the most direct cheapest flight possible.

Is BKK the best option? Anything else you can think of that might help?

Thanks!

Ben

Simplest way is CX via HKG.Need to be careful of booking code if in Y,

Since you are departing MEL, then the OneWorld CX flight via HKG is very well timed.
Depart MEL 7.40am arrive DXB 8.50pm. Personally I love their J seating, but dislike their Y seating.

I occasionally use the BKK/SIN - MEL JetStar Starclass flights..........but only on inbound legs. Outbound is too risky (workwise) when needing to catch a connecting flight. Inbound, there are less consequences (for me) regarding a delayed flight.
