Its a weird thing that happened when in Spain, posted about it on FlyerTalk and people suggested I follow up with Qantas, but every time I try to call I'm either calling on a weekend (when its still weekday here in the US) or the phone just disconnects when I choose Frequent Flyer option.

Anyway, I booked cheap Iberia flights within Spain. (on Travelocity) I decided to credit my Qantas account which was nearly empty to both restart the clock on mileage expiration and because I thought I would get a better deal than crediting my AAdvantage account.

I was wrong.

Instead of 1,000 per segment I received 225... 450 total for the round trip, not the 2,000 I thought I would get.

Is that normal?

If it were a 225 mile flight - yes. What was the actual route/class flown?

Travelocity did not show a fare basis, but reading Qantas web site I only see two options... you get 1,000 miles for a qualifying flight or you don't... so my logic was if I got something, it should have been the full amount. (Not that it would make any kind of difference I only have a few miles left in my QF account, but still.... )

Great Circle Mapper gives it as 222 miles, so you got 3 bonus miles :)

While the program does have minimum mileage credits, 1000 for QF,JQ and 3K flights, 500 for AA and BA, there is no minimum credit for Iberia.

When you go to the QF Airline earning table it lists the base rate for each class and cabin bonus for each class and if eligible for earnng SCs.

Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
Excluded: Points and Status Credits are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by airlines other than oneworld® Alliance Airlines.

Actually you are lucky you 1 QFF point/mile as some CX airfares do not earn QFF points while most except for full economy earn 0.5QFF points/mile.

Minimum QFF point guarantee is mentioned individually for each airline in the Airline Partners section.

Also note BA discount economy only earns 125 QFF points minimum.
