I am planning to travel SYD-CNS via Gold Coast.

JQ400 arrives 0725 (T1 Domestic) and connecting flight to CNS is JQ23 at 0830.

Is it possible to catch connecting flight in one hour, with hand luggage only? APEC card may come in useful, if there is dedicated lane at OOL.

I think I can get boarding passes before leaving Sydney. Bookings would be on separate PNRs.

If JQ400 arrives on time and if you already hold a boarding pass for JQ23 it is easily do-able with no checked baggage.

if you can't get a boarding pass in Sydney (and I'm not sure you can) then it's virtually impossible.

I am guessing online checkin will produce boarding pass for both sectors. Terminal 1 is domestice arrival but looking at OOL map on airport authority's webpage, it looks like domestic and international operations are under the same roof. If so, it would be a matter of dashing across from arrivals to departures with my hand luggage.

You are correct in that international and domestic are under the same roof however there is another security screening point you need to go through for international flights that leads off the northern end of the domestic departures/arrival hall. On arrival and as soon as you enter the terminal building from airside turn to your left and walk toward gate 5/6 for entry. It is usually a log jam in the mornings through this screening point as most of the international flights are generally on the ground together. I think you would be okay provided everything is on time, you only have carry on and you are already checked in for your connecting flight but it is cutting it awfully fine. If you need to check bags at OOL then I would suggest no chance of making it.:(

Can you do OLCI for the dom leg of an int'l flight on JQi?
If you can, no problem. I don't think you can.

Reading further on Jetstar website, I feel you may be right. "D" sticker required. Read
Domestic flights within Australia departing from the International Terminal

at this link here:

At the airport - Travel information - Jetstar Airways

And the following link suggests 1:45 connection:

All this makes me re-consider my itineraries. Overnighting in Gold Coast or maybe going direct at higher fare.

As the jetstar service from OOL to CNS (JQ23) is a international service you will need a D sticker which can only be issue at the check in counter as you need to sign for your boarding pass. At least this what happen to me a couple of weeks ago on this sector with only carry on from OOL.

NO. I tried two weeks ago, and it wasn't possible.

Well, if OLCI is out and check in closes 60 minutes before scheduled departure, same day connection will not work.

Alternative is to overnight in Gold Coast or to pay higher fare on direct / other routing.
