The fifth Gold Coast Drinks night is on in May, with a Sunday chosen to take advantage of cheaper food ($1 oysters if that's your thing) and avoid the crowds. I hope to see more new members turning up. What you'll find are a great bunch of people ready to talk travel and share some tips you might not have read online... for good reason!
The venue is the same as last time, the bar is called 'Aloha Bar & Dining' in Broadbeach. It is located at 18 Main Place, Broadbeach. A small one-way lane parallel to the Gold Coast Highway. If driving, you can park for 3 hours free of charge at the Oasis shopping centre (leaving prior to 9), before walking down to the bar, otherwise there is a parking lot underneath the Phoenician Resort (off Main Place) with parking available for $5. Conveniently, this car parks entrance is directly opposite the bar.
If coming via public transport, Uber will drop you off right outside or there's a tram stop in the centre of the highway, almost opposite the location on the other side.
What you're looking for is a graffitied building with a (big) fridge out the front of it and cars parked down the side of it. You walk between the cars to the back of the building, where the entrance is hidden behind some palms. You'll know you're in the right place because there will be golden palms spray painted onto the sidewalk, like a trail of breadcrumbs.
Breaking from previous timeframes, I shall be arriving from 5 as they have earlier opening hours and the oysters tend to disappear before 6.
