I feel squeezed. QF2 LHR-SYD in early December and the Y seat allocations look like this already now. Seems like the flight will end up being full.

How would you attempt to optimise your seating to maximise the chances of having at least one spare seat vacant next to you? I'm on one of A's with both B and C taken, too. There's precious little room to escape anywhere else in the cabin (unless I try my luck with 85D ).

The load is currently F3 A0 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 X0 E0. I have had an upgrade request (PE, J) in queue for two months but looks like I might be stuck at the back of the bus. So, where to now with this?

Consider taking 64A is probably your best shot, if you prefer a window seat.

Look at T-80hrs. Some better seats may or may not show up,
As guess will be 100% full, given current load as you posted. Business & PE no seats for sale.
Y9 will be 9 or more seats for sale, but QF will be expecting to sell those for very good money.
Some upgrades to F/J/W may happen. Will be pax who will cancel or change flights.
Good luck for the upgrade.

As @Mwenenzi said, check again at T80.
I'd be selecting 64A or 86A/K. If all else fails, then I'd be going any D/G seat as then you'll at least only have one person having to jump over you. Row 85 in the centre looks like may be a chance for a pseudo flat bed.
Godspeed!

Personally I would go for an aisle in the centre - easier to get in and out of - though some people prefer window as can lie up against that to try and sleep.

I agree - I always go for the inside aisle seats, and I seem to get the best strike rate for an empty seat alongside me. Also, the toilets are just behind the last row in economy, so try and get as far forward from there otherwise you can hear the loud flushing sounds all of the flight.

Same here, and I try to choose a row where two seats are occupied on the other side, leaving only a single seat left over and thus less desirable. Choosing a totally unoccupied row gives you the risk that say, a family of 3 will choose seats next to you..
