Okay, so a friend of mine booked Virgin CHC-MEL leaving at 6pm

As usual (well in my opinion) Virgin cancelled the flight 2 weeks before (likely due to poor loads)

They have sent the standard email saying you are now leaving at 6am! Which means a 3ish am wakeup and a day not spend in CHC

It's now a 6AM CHC-BNE flight, then a 2+ hour wait, change terminals and then BNE-MEL

Of course they would offer a refund, but is there the option of being put on a CHC-AKL Air NZ flight and then AKL-MEL on Air NZ or QF or EK ?

Would like to know before they have to ring!

This is the exact reason why I dont' fly Virgin!!!!!!!

Is this VA63 at 4:00 pm on a Thursday or Sunday ? Only a few afternoon flights from CHC with VA/NZ. Many are 06:00 am or there about's. They may put them on a NZ flight, but highly unlikely EK or QF

Very unlikely to be poor loads. As a frequent passenger on MEL-CHC & CHC-MEL routes loads on these are 75% or more (NZ & VA). Were 10 open seats on VA63 on my flight on Thursday.

Appreciate seeing your verifiable data to substantiate your "As usual (well in my opinion) Virgin cancelled statement. Schedule changes are not cancellations

Thanks for your help. Its a Sunday flight! 4pm could be it! :)

Really hoping for chc akl mel at a later time :)

My comment about canceling flights stems over years. can't be bothered explaining again but this is the reason I dont fly virgin. I have been burnt by this more than 15 times. I am sure most know my rants well! Lol

What VA or NZ flights ex AKL are scheduled at the "later time" ?

Looking foward to your verifiable data

Virgin allowed a change from the cancelled 6am flight to the NZ flight at about 4pm at no charge

Well done Virgin!

Which is exactly why verifiable data is non-existent. The glossy flight stats on cancellations and on-time flights, provided by airlines, exclude "schedule changes" as you have said, thanks for confirming :)

If he hadn't said "in my opinion" that would be a fair call. Clearly the "my opinion" bit is a bit of acknowledgement that this isn't meant to be an evidence-based discussion.

They moved from a 6pm VA flight to a 4pm NZ flight.

Seems ok to me.

Which is exactly why I said it

I fly in/out of CBR quite a bit and that's a route that VA have stuffed around with for the past 2 years, as a result it has affected me greatly.

Yep as I said above, Well done to VA for moving my friend to the NZ flight

I would much rather fly the NZ A320 over the VA B737 anyday
