For those who have actually experienced an OpUp, where the SC's based on the new fare or original fare?

When I was op'd up to J Syd to Perth a couple of months ago on a saver fare I received Flexi fare SC's.

Concur with Princess Fiona. You only earn points and SC based on the original ticket, and not the opup'd class.

If you by chance get extra points/SC as a result of an opup, it's an error. The more honest amongst us would report this should it occur.

Thanks for that. Was just interested. Given an OpUp costs nothing and a reward upgrade costs you points but gets the original fare SC's would have been surprised to hear OpUp's get the additional SC's

My Op Ups have always appeared as though I've points upgraded and credited at the fare rate, eg:

(yes, it's been that long since I've had one).

Some of us might say it's been very recent for you!

Really you would report it? I wonder how many others here would do that, I doubt I would.

The OP posted in the VA thread, so I presume he was enquiring about VA Op Up's

SC for Fare paid every time here. Thats fare, the OpUp, for whatever reason, is bonus enough really. I dont expect extra SC because I have been lucky enough to get a higher cabin class for free. Would be nice though just the same ;):p

Flying Virgin I got an opup on the 2nd of October for I received a new boarding pass at the gate. Status credits posted as per the original booked fare which was flexi. In fact there was no indication at all of an opup on my Velocity online statement.

I think the only way you would get more status credits would be if you were manually rebooked into a different fare class. This is even rarer than an opup, but typically only happens if there is a a very good reason (such as to make a connection to an international fight) to put you onto a different flight which is already very full.

Whoops, how embarrassing. Thanks for pointing that out.

That'll teach me to open up a whole bunch of threads in tabs and reply without paying attention to the section :)

I have only ever had 1 op-up and received discount economy SCs which was my original booking class.

Really you would report it? I wonder how many others here would do that, I doubt I would.
I don't know anyone who would report getting additional SC's and/or FF points. I know I wouldn't....
