Hi all,

I have booked my first overseas trip in quite a while through the recent QF sale (PER-SIN-LHR-MAN//DUB-LHR-SIN-PER for the grand total of $1,700 (ish). I am NB but with the flying that I will be doing over the next few months that is likely to change to SG (not in time for this trip though).

I have looked through the meetings tread to check if there are any meets during my trip but I could not see any. From recent feedback that I gave to QF I have 2no vouchers for use at a QF lounge.

To the best of know knowledge I can use these in the interational lounges as well as domestic.

Assuming that I can have access to the lounges in SIN and LHR would I have enough time to access the lounge, have a shower, maybe a drink or two, bit of a snack before reboarding (2hrs10 in SIN on the way out, 1hr20 on the way back and perhaps more problematically in LHR 2hrs5 and I need to get from T3 to T5). My initial thoughts are that SIN should not be a problem on the way out but might be tight on the way back. LHR is just too unknown. The last time I went through there it was an absolute siht fight. Feedback/pointers are appreciated.

Secondly, my aunt and uncle did a huge tour of Australia a few months back and flew QF the whole way, they were not FF members at that time. Is it possible for them to join and claim the point now?

Awesome site, thanks in advance for any help.

Bargain. Well done.

Yes. You can use the lounge passes at any Qantas operated lounge, including joint lounges, but not partner lounges.

In SIN, no problem, although as you've noted a little tight on the way back, I suspect. LHR may be an issue due to the change of terminal. Note, however, there is no QF lounge in T5, only a joint QF/BA lounge in T3.

Yes. The QF website states you can claim retrospectively within 12 months of travel. It doesn't state that you have to have been a member during the period of retrospectivity but I don't think you'll have a problem.

Agree with all the lounge advice but not sure about the points earnings; from the QFF T&Cs

9.1.2 A Member may earn Points only in relation to:
(a) Eligible Flights taken after the Member's enrolment date and up to 30 days prior to that date; and
(b) eligible transactions (acquisition of goods or other transactions) entered into after the Member's enrolment date.
Except as provided elsewhere in these Terms and Conditions, or as otherwise specified by Qantas, Points may be credited only to the account of the Member who has acquired the eligible goods or services, entered into an eligible transaction or taken an Eligible Flight.

There may be conflicting advice elsewhere on the QF site, wouldn't be the first time.

Ahhhh. I didn't see that. Thanks, tuapekastar. That would be a bugger. I have a friend who works FIFO in WA. He's just signed up to QFF and is attempting to get 12 months worth of credit that would put him into Platinum. I'll report back with how he gets on.

Just try asking them and see, you might get a half decent Qantas Rep and if they can all do it they might help you claim those points..

As for LHR, yes there are BA lounges in T5 that QP members can access, I think they're called Gallery lounges and I found very nice... They have an arrivals lounge that closes at 2pm i think if you are just wanting to stop in on your way through so if you were coming from T3 and then back that would maybe be an option or you could just use the QP/BA club in T3...

Seeing your bags would be sent to your next flight and you should have tickets through, i would say getting to T5 shouldn't be a huge problem if it was just about catching the train across and back, its just whether i imagine you would have to go through customs etc which all takes time...

Thanks everyone,

I will run the gauntlet with the FFP when I get to my aunt and uncles house. I think I will reserve the lounge vouchers for SIN on the way out and T3 on the way back (4hrs in LHR is not my idea of fun).
