Lounge access is one. Including access to the first class lounge in the satellite at KUL and written invitations to 3rd party lounges at other airports.

The other oneworld benefits would apply.

I've never had any recognition or better treatment on board.

I have only ever flown business on MH but don't expect too much and you'll be ok.

Are you able to preselect row 4 on the 737?

The first Y-class row on MH 737s is row 5. If you can preselect it, it still must be paid for. The middle seats are often blocked.

I have been welcomed as a OWE on a number of occasions whilst flying MH in J. An unwritten benefit of being OWE is also free seat selection when flying in Y. What I've learned is that you don't select your seat at the time of booking but ring the GCC later and request to allocate a seat. On the few times I've done this, I've never been charged a fee. It's not guaranteed, of course, and your experience may vary. It helps if your OWE status is already in the booking, so they can see it.

Warning about the bulkhead row on the 737-800s, which is Row 5. The legroom is only a bit better than a normal seat but you won't be able to stretch your legs out. It's similar to the bulkheads on QF's A330-300s and it's nothing like the legroom you get in Row 3 on VA's 737 or Row 4 on QF's 737s. I prefer to go with Row 6 on the MH 737s. I'm not that tall (5'7") and I prefer to be able to stretch my legs out.

Never once for me over dozens of MH flights in J and Y. But nice to know it can happen!

I must try that!

Oops. Sorry. I only just saw this thread...

I've never had it in Y (not that I travel in Y with them much). There was one occasion where I did get a welcome as a OWE and I also had the opportunity to see the passenger manifest. I was in J and I was the only OWE in the cabin. There were a handful of OWS and some OWR.

Paying for seat selection? I have an MH flight coming up and have been preallocated a seat but haven't paid for it. Must check the booking again. Probably not row 5.

I've just checked and it seems the opposite is what is published!

11. Are preferred seats available to Enrich Platinum or Gold members for free or at a discount?
No, the preferred seat fees are applicable to all Economy Class passengers, including Enrich Platinum and Gold members.

I received a personal welcome from the purser as a OWS on the only occasion that I flew MH in Y.

Hi all,

What are the benefits of OWE when travelling whY within the MH network?

FCCI, Flounge access, F bag tagged when you have something to put in the hold, preferential access to EMEX seats, premium immigration if arriving at KUL i think.

Contrary to what I said earlier I cannot access Zuji booking on MH website. Sent MH an email regarding seat selection to be advised cannot be done but they have pre-allocated 18D for me which is the furthest forward aisle seat available. Only a short flight so aisle seat better than nothing.

I've never had a special greeting on MH on both domestic J and international J as a OWE. Normally only contact I have is when they ask what meal i would like. QF and CX even in Y I always get a greeting.

If the booking was done on the MH website then a fee for seat selection is applicable, both online and over the phone.

If the booking was done via an agent or issued on another carrier's ticket stock, then seat selection is free, including row 5 for everyone.

As per above I cannot select a seat with my Zuji booking and it definitely is not row 5.

No special greeting on board ever (OWE), checked luggage priority in name only, but Flounge access at KLIA and priority immigration on departure. Don't believe they have priority immigration inbound.

Why do emeralds and WP want a special greeting?

Add to this list an unpublished benefit of assistance with connections to next flight.
