Hi all,

I seem to only be able to find old threads on this topic, so I thought I would ask to see if anyone has had any recent experience in upgrading to JQi "Business Class" over the phone or at the airport for a set fee.

I have seen ranges from $200 back in 2009 to $350-$450 in 2011.

Ms Chooms and I are winging our way from SYD-HNL this week. Considering doing the upgrade for the right price...

And FYI - rang JQ and asked and they said they could upgrade our fares one-way between SYD-HNL to BusinessMax for $1999 .

Airport may be the only option...

Hi. I posted after my recent trip to Honolulu. At the airport I think they either wanted $429 or $479 but when I commented that had received cheaper offers in the past the lady said if I comeback at 2.00pm she might enable to something for $350. Decided it was still too much. Last year JQ customer service called me with an offer of $429 to upgrade one way only but again decided it was too much. To be quite honest if you can get exit row seats I would not bother. I also had Lounge passes so that helped too

Thanks Noreen.

If I could get it for $350 each (including FF points and SC's) I would probably take it (but not for $1999).

I am QF WP so lounge access isn't a problem. Will be enjoying the Flounge for few hours before boarding.

One thing I hadn't counted on about upgrading at the airport is that I will actually be checking in and getting my boarding passes in Brisbane at the QF domestic terminal. After thinking about it, I may not be able to access the paid upgrade option at the airport now... but I will be sure to let people know.

I might be wrong but when we have travelled via Sydney in the past to Hawaii I am sure we had to check in Nd received boarding passes there not in Melbourne. Of course this also meant getting to Sydney in time for when the check in opens to ask the question re upgrades. Ie more than 3 hours prior. Not an issue now that JQ depart Melbourne to Honolulu
Good Luck

I had a phone call the week before offering upgrade at about $429 I think... but it lasted only as long as the sale was on and if we wanted to get the one with status credits we had to pay full price with no consideration for having paid for the starter plus...

Ok, so the holiday to Hawaii is complete and I am back on Australian soil.

JQ rang me the morning of our flight SYD-HNL to offer me an upgrade for the flight back HNL-SYD for $429pp. This did not include status credits or FF points.

Checked again at check-in at HNL the day of the return flight and the offer was still available.

We didn't take the offer.

Surprised that JQi over ten hours wasn't that bad... Ms Chooms and I had two seats to ourselves which in effect (with centre armrest raised) gave us a wider seat than the J seats! Food was quite good too with breakfast and lunch being served on the HNL-SYD flight. Both served in QF Dom J plates.

Welcome back and hope the holiday went well, love Hawaii and hope to be back there again November time. I honestly don't think I would bother with star class again if I can manage to book the exit row seats. Read your other post too about travelling from Brisbane to Sydney. We are fortunate at the moment with J Q flying direct from Melbourne , hated having to go to Sydney
