Hi there,

I need a hire car from the 20th Dec to 22nd inclusive from Parkes (airport would be good)

Who do you recommend?
Cheapest?
Weblink?

Cheers

Thrifty and Avis are located in the terminal at Parkes - so will be convenient if nothing else.

You can book via the Thrifty or Avis websites

Via websites Hertz the only one with cars available? $185 buck though!
Whats going on this weekend BIG SATALITE DISK CONVENTION????
Someone making a another Aussie film up there?

Could be another Elvis Convention.

I got caught last year driving from Brisbane back to Melbourne. Got to Parkes and couldn't get a room anywhere. Drove on to Forbes and got one of the few remaining rooms in town.

That's far to many Elvis' for my liking

There is a major event there next week ;) Perhaps people flying in from the cities and renting cars to visit relatives?

There's a little event called christmas - i think half the counrty is taking the 24th off, so suspect that's your problem.

Also, often the websites say sold but cars are sometimes available, so you could always call the companies.

Well the internet FAILED me again!

Rang all the companies and they said cars were available!

The price quoted online was $30 more than a phone call!

Aswell all these "we discount" rental company sites failed to show availability or discount!

Why am i not surpriesed - this seems to be happening more and more.

I usually use Hertz, but went to CNS and booked budget online b/c hertz out of cars.

Closer to date, checked Hertz again - plenty of cars available. grrrr.

In hindsight, should have rung Hertz upfront.

Hertz has never run out of cars for me, BTW www.standbycars.com.au have some interesting one way specials at times, $1 a day!

Great it's flooded in Parkes!

Anyone got a direct line to Santa as Hertz don't open to 8am!

Anyone got a hovercraft with a floating trailor?

Right water went over door line.
Carpet a bit wet!
Website got nothing on insurance cover.
What do you know?
With and without excess cover whats the cost?

Well, the basic excess on most policies is around $2000 plus taxes so depends on the cost to repair. With excess reduction $300 or zero. obviously $2000 is the max charge so if repair costs are lower, you will pay the less
