still good value for flight redemption, but harder for me to justify compared to an AUS-Europe, or AUS-USA redemption

have pilot gold with Virgin so contemplating paid Y to get the SCs... have to make sure i choose day flights!

Yes, it is kind of getting strange. The SQ taxes and surcharges are now appearing to make its presence felt.

Same kind of dilemma - looking for return MEL-BLR,
Paid J with MH - $1590
Redemption - 123,250 + A$810

Not sure which way to go. The only downside to J in MH (KUL-BLR) is the lack of lie flat seats!!!

That is a dirt cheap J fare! Where are you finding that?? Yeah I am struggling to justify SQs surcharges. Maybe ok to Europe but to Asia they are at least if not more than a paid economy fare.

Gone since last night. It could have been booked when I last looked a couple of days ago.

In saying that, I have seen MH offering fares as low as $1490 for (MEL-BLR) on business promo often. I have set a fare alert with google flight to let me know when it appears again.

We should confess that with krisflyer - we can afford to book redemption tickets at the last minute, since we know they will be available. So far, I have had no instance of not finding availability on my selected dates with SQ. It is by far the most valuable benefit of sticking to KF.
