We have taken advantage of purchasing miles in my mothers name. That being said, the miles were purchased using my credit card and refunded to me in cash.

Now she has booked a flight for me in her account and time has come to pay the taxes.

Problem being that she doesnt have a credit/debit card and they wont accept mine either online on via the Australian call centre number (fiji).

Have basically been told there is nothing they can do.

Even she cant book her own flights as there is no way of paying for them. She wont get a card, dont ask why.

Any other options?

Australia Post "Load and Go" card maybe?

It is a Debit Visa, but it can be used as a one off.

So what happens for children's accounts, they wouldn't have credit cards either?

Your a legend mate... We actually realised this about an hour ago...

Mum got the card, registered it online and attempted to pay online as well.

Couldnt do it on the US website (as the card is AUD and fees USD), so had to call up the Aus number.

Long story short, $80 fee waived on both bookings (done seperate, the second with dads card) and status is now ticketed.

I presume that means its all done and dusted.

I doubt they could "cancel" a "ticketed" ticket. Although no confirmation email recieved yet.

Was explained that if travelling on the same itinerary, then no problem.

Difference is that my partners and I's tickets are seperate, from 2 different AA accounts, to make the most out of our parents points, being that the accounts only had enough for each ticket.

Australia Post "Load and Go" - FWIW, there is a 9¢ per transaction fee charged to a max of 99¢ per month.

You need "Ticketed - <date>" - that can be a few hours or a day or so.

The ticket we booked first (aus post) says "ticketed" on the summary on hold page, but "Ticketed on 02/13/13" on the my trips status. This miles are there...

The ticket we booked second (credit card) says "ticketed" on the summary on hold page, but "Ticketed on 02/13/13" on the my trips status. The miles are gone :-)

All ticketed, confirmed, eticket recieved and points deduction notification sent...

Not as easy as booking a QF flight, but the time and pain was worth it :-)

To excite the situation, the turkeys in Fiji managed to ticket me with my first name as my last and vice versa, hence why not showing in my QF account.

Have requested this for to be changed, but. 24 hours later no joy.

To the point that there are no available seats in the booking class and their agents are working on it!

Useless!!!

I have paid taxes online via CC for a booking for my children with the miles coming from one of their accounts and I'm not a traveller on the itinerary.

Another reason IMHO to never call the AA Aussie number.

There are plenty of warnings in other threads, but people either don't want to take it on board or they forget about. it.
