I am looking at a one way flight from bali to melbourne. The US price converted to $AUS is $469 but if i book and pay the straight $AUS quote the price is $522. i know there are some additional charges added by the credit card user and perhaps not as good as rate but thats about $50+ different. what experience have other flyers had?:?:

leasm11,

It will all depend upon the exchange rates used and the fees they charge. Also fares often tend to vary a bit dependant upon the web site used and where it is based. Does the same company have an Oz based site that you can compare :?:

Hi Bill, yes the sites are both virgin - just one is quoted in $AUS (return flight) and one is quoted in $US (one way return from Bali). might need to ring them to get them to explain. perhaps they quoted when the dollar was much lower. i notice the prices dont change even if the dollar appreciates or depreciates.

You might cop a 2% conversion fee plus another flat fee of say $5 - still well in front I'd say. Of course if you have a 28 Degree Mastercard you'll get the exact forex rate with no other fees :)
