My first post so I hope that I get it right.
Does anyone know of a booking engine which accepts PayPal for hotel bookings and provides good value accommodation?
This request has come about from a recent experience from using Expedia which I have used very successfully in the past. This time I booked on a no refund basis in Rome and the money was deducted successfully from my account. Unfortunately we couldn't make the trip due to an injury sustained by my wife, but that is not the issue here. However, on the day we were to arrive I received an e-mail purporting to come from Expedia, explaining that the hotel booking had been cancelled as the credit card number I supplied was incorrect and that I should phone one of the numbers supplied to give the correct CC number. On the phone Expedia confirmed that it wasn't their e-mail and weren't overly fussed about investigation. When pressed they gave me an e-mail address to forward the offending email to, but in over a week I have had no response. This experience, together with a marked increase in spam following the hotel booking leaves me with serious doubts of their security of my details, so I am looking for another way of sourcing hotel bookings. I am thinking that using PayPal might also help with security, although in this case it seems that the CC number was safe, but it is a disconcerting feeling just the same. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
