Hi, looking at booking some flights on VA to Cairns from Perth. I usually book Flexi and upgrade with points to J.

At the moment on the dates searched I return a price around $410 for PER-CNS but when I search for BNE-PER on the same dates and same flight I get prices around $520 for the single sector only.

Either getting a great price to CNS or a raw deal from BNE.

Anyone seen stuff like this before? Maybe they are just promoting CNS tourism!

Cheers

Holiday destinations like are discretionary travel. Plus have seasonality like wet season when prices are lower.

Major Capitals (and some mining towns) are more business oriented.

Both types of destinations will have cheapest rates at different times.

Also, do you realise that CNS is actually closer to PER than BNE is? (OK, it's only 180km but it is closer)

Kinda like purchasing flights to SYD; OOL is always cheaper Flexi than going BNE... Different destinations, different markets ect.

Which means more money in the bank for more SC another time, Hehe ;)

I got onto this one for march, it was the same price to do per-syd-cns-OOL as per-Mel-OOL. Good excuse to pop in a quick visit to CNS and trip to the Torres Strait

In a similar vein for a long time it was always quite a bit cheaper to go BNE - DRW via SYD than it was to go BNR -DRW direct + it was good for SC building. The scheduling was and still is way better via SYD also .... VA's BNE - DRW direct services did and still does ...... suck ! .........Always fun checking into the Hilton ( Ex Crowne P. ) after 1 am.

Unfortunately in the pricing area things changed a while back last year - it is now cheaper direct probably due to cough schd. and lower load rates ......take advantage of these things while you can I say.
