I'm traveling from Perth to SFO on February 1st. I'm currently a silver frequent flier. I've got 45,000 points, but I have access to maybe 150,000 more points from family.I'd like to book this as cheap as possible, but I'd also love to upgrade to business class.I would love suggestions on how best to approach this. Thanks a lot,LachyP.S. re: PER > SFO

I have found the run on SQ in J on Kris Flyer points with zero status to be the easiest for getting out of Perth to Los Angeles and then an Expedia booked cheapie to SFO.
The route I have been doing is PER-SIN-LAX using their A330 then the A345 98 seater then a US Air or equivalent to SFO in Y for about $60 each way.
On QF I try 3 exits namely MEL,SYD and BNE to get seats in J as Mrscove is still a QF girl first.

re: PER > SFO

I'm about to make my booking from the 1st of February to the 30th of May. This is *exactly* 90 days. I know that my Visa Waiver is valid for 90 days. Does anyone know if you have to have left by the 90th day, or if this booking is acceptable?

Thanks

re: PER > SFO

From what I have heard rather than experienced myself they can check how you are going to live on the funds that you are taking into the US.
If you appear to be trying to work in the US without approvals then you may fail to get into the US and you could get sent home within a week at your expense. Now that happened to someone I know who had about $6,000 and planned to stay in the US for 6 months. The authorities came to the opinion that he intended grabbing jobs to make the money last.

re: PER > SFO

By the way using those dates you come to about 120 days and not 90 days. Did you mean April 30 ?
